Well tell that to Lexus because the new LS uses 0w-30 but they said 5w-20 will work but it greatly reduces engine life......and its not that much thicker of an oil....5w-30 is fine I run Mobil 1 I would go with what the car is made for just my $.02

Take a day to read this entire website. Become a believer and make the switch to 0W-30.

If not, use 5W-30. Your engine needs the added viscosity for high temps.

why would this even be brought up?
Put that in and see what happens.....that's like putting sludge into a honda engine that is way to thick for a N/A K20 motor..... it will take longer for the oil to reach small tight spots that need lubrication in essence could seize or damage engine..... Maybe turbo or supercharged because the engine temps are alot hotter and it thins the oil out so it needs thicker oil to prevent airation.....
