front seat has a 'tick...tick'

Whenever someone sits on the passenger seat and I drive it makes a ticking noise. it only happens when someone is seated which makes me think it has something to do with the sensor. its like a metal on metal tick and it only happens when someone has weight on it and the weight shifts (when the passenger bounces up and down). there are some other threads like this but no one has posted a solution. the problem I'm having is the exact same one on this thread: Passenger seat "clicking" with passenger seated

has anyone been able to fix this annoying noise?

BTW I had leather seats installed if that helps (through the dealer)

UPDATE!!

I found this peice in the back of my car and taking to Classic Soft Trim (company that installed leather) so they can get an idea of what to replace. Pic below:

there are a few wires/connectors that are under the seat that make noise. There's also where the seat slides on the rail, sometimes it doesn't lock, or sometimes it's loose.. Honda should have looked this over before they shipped the civics out. In addition to the handful of seat rattles, my civic now has TONS of rattles in almost any temperature.

My driver's sat rattled and clicked everytime I sat in it. I brought it to the dealer and they replaced the bracket and now I'm rattle free.

I'd say bring it into the dealer, it takes about 20 minutes to diagnose. But remember it takes a day to fix, at least that's how long mine took. I did get a neon rental car that I beat the hell out of though, haha.

good luck

It's really frustrating when on certain trips I get a non-stop rattle on either side of the car doors, and on certain trips I don't get any. It's so hard to diagnose.

I have the ticking noise in my passenger seat only when someone isn't sitting in it. I drives me crazy! Last night when I took my family to dinner, my dad who weighs 360lbs was sitting in the passenger seat. No ticking at all on the way to dinner and back home. When I dropped my family off, the ticking resumed when I was driving home. I was playing around with the seat and when I pushed my fist right down in the middle of the seat, the ticking went away. As others have stated, there is something inside (sensor, wires...) the seat that is making this noise. I am determined to pull the seat apart and find the problem. If I can diagnose the problem and fix it, I will document it on the board for everyone.

could be from anywhere, those clips are all over the car.

Id say bring the service bulletin into the dealer and get them to fix it.

I would but it doesn't apply to me. I have an 07 coupe. And also its not really the problem I have. The seat slides well, it just 'ticks' when someone puts weight on it.

Thank you 'udumbkid' (lol) for taking the time to post that. +rep

One last bump before the thread dies.

Those clips are all over the car, including underneath the seat?
I wish I could get this resolved once and for all so I can stop worrying about it!!!

Hey I had a click in my passenger seat too, it was VERY annoying. My solution was to losen the bolts that connect the seat rails to the chassis, put my weight on the seat and retorque them. Been about 2 weeks and the noise hasn't come back (knock on wood)

same here... passenger's seat clicked and rattled like crazy, honda australia found it was because of a faulty seat frame/bracket; they replaced it and now the ticking's gone!

That is EXACTLY the same symptons what i have (car is 2006 EX Sedan)...when i first heard the ticking,
i didn't know where it was comming from...i then noticed that there's no ticking
with a passenger.....ah ha! ..the seat ! ...i also pushed down on the seat
and the ticking went away!!!

so, i did the following:

- i first put rags around all the cables underneath, thinking that they
were hiting something - ticking stayed
- i also thought it could be a sensor in the seat...hmmm?
- then i noticed, for me, it seems somewhat intermittent..some days no ticking,
some days a little, others alot ...i'm thinking metal...i also noticed
the ticking seemed a bit less if i moved the passenger seat all the way
forward ....so one day while driving with the passenger seat all the way
back, i reach down to the rail and just held it tight...the ticking
stopped !! ...actually, i dont have to hold it that tight for the
ticking to stop.

From looking at the rail..it's not one piece but 2, held together with rivets,
2 rivets at the front of each rail (i guess at the back of the rail too :P)
I'm guessing that the 2 rivets are not install tight enough...what i did
next was to get vice grips and i clamped the one rail (closest to the driver)
just in front of the rivets...the ticking stopped ! ...so though i can't be
100% certain ...i think it's the seat rails causing the problem.

"udumkid" ..thanks for the service bulletin...though i dont think this is my
problem...wouldn't mind seeing all 3 pages anyway. When my next oil change is due,
i will tell my dealer of my findings and to fix it

arrow201: excellent job finding and fixing the problem yourself!

i guess i should have added that one of the rattles coming from my passenger seat was diagnosed by honda as a faulty rail assembly... oh well
