The problem is that I cannot find Amsoil anywhere here in like Autozone or whatnot.. This is the only thing I can really find, so I just want to make sure I have the right stuff, if not, I'll just order that Amsoil off the Inet.. Can anyone with a 8th gen SI that has changed their fluid tell me which one to get!!!

You will not find Amsoil at local auto stores. It is independently distributed, so you have to buy it from an authorized dealer or the official site.
I'm going to assume you have an FG2. The Pennzoil you have will be just fine, since the synchromesh type will allow the brass synchros to "catch" gears. However, know that Amsoil (or even Honda Z-1) is a superior product. The Amsoil Synchromesh MTF is the best, mostly because it is uses 100% PAO base stock. If you can't return it, I'd say use the Pennzoil for the sake of convenience. It won't hurt your tranny if that's what you're wondering. But if I were using it, i'd change it out for Amsoil within 20,000 miles. Good luck! |

That GM syncromesh and that pennzoil stuff is all Gear Lube. That is NOT what we put in our trannys... that stuff is like 75w-90. We want 5w-30. Amsoil has just came out with a 5w-30 tranny fluid with the modifiers for tranny's and there syncro's. Don't waist your time and money... Order the Amsoil!

That Pennzoil fluid that is pictured earlier in the thread is NOT gear oil. It is synchromesh transaxle fluid. Read the fine print.
MTF viscosity is not measured on the same scale as engine oil. 5W-30 MTF is NOT the same viscosity as 5W-30 oil! It actually comes out to be around 75W-85. Check your facts. |
