Thumbs down I am upset

i dont really know what to think about this situation, but heres the quick story, i bought an 06 Si used with 3200 miles on it, from Honda City on Long Island, NEw York, for 19000 with extended warranty, the car seems emaculate, but today i was installing fog lights and i went to take out the under dash under the steering wheel and i saw that pretty much all of the metal peaces have rust on them, and then i checked the rest of the interior and found the rails for the seats very rusty, i dont know what to do or think about this. this really bums me out, because i feel like i bought a car that could have possibly been in a flood of some sort, the carfax shows nothing wrong with the car, it runs well, and ive had no problems with it. so my question is does anyone know what this could be? and what i can do about it? sorry for the long post, just really upset about this right now.

I wonder if other people's cars are like this. I just had knee surgery or I'd walk down to the garage. It would also help to post pictures. (both side, the OP to post pictures and the people who help him out to post them)

and ill try and take pics tomm morning, but i just have a hard time figuring out how to actually transfer them from "my pictures" to the site

dang..thats why i always like to buy new. if it is a "certified" used honda, i dont think they are allowed to sell it if it was in a flood or anything. i would go back and speak with the manager...maybe look into getting a lawyer so they can buy back the car. who knows what other parts are rusting and you might have a lot of problems in the future even though everything seems fine right now

I bought a 1997 certified used civic a few years ago, a couple of days later found out the passenger side doors had different VIN numbers on them! The dealer took the car back and gave me a sweet deal on a new Civic. Take the car back to the dealer, do not quit until you are happy.

My 74 Datsun has no rust on the inside, or outside either. I doubt your car was in a flood since if it was rusty up under the dash the engine and all the electrical crap(computer) would have been damaged. Maybe the previuos owner left the window down in a thunderstorm and the high humidity inside caused the rust. How thick is the rust? Is it thick and scaly or just a light coating?

I have the same exact issue. My car wasnt even driven that much until recently either. I have rust that i noticed on the seat rails. If you at the side of your seat right behind the handle to adjust the back there is like a circular spring ( its all wrapped up) i noticed it rusty as all hell... ill take some pics. Ican only imagine what the rest looks like.

i highly doubt the dealership will take any sort of responsibility for it, if it was in a flood and they knew it, they would not hellp me out. PS lets say a window was broken how does rust form under the steering column and above the pedalss that is virtually impossible for rain to get to, and if humidity can rust metal like that then **** it. but im going to go and finish my fogs ill also take some pics. i hope Cbond sees this i wanna see what he says, andd thank you all for the help. i need some more feedback as what i can actaully do, without being jerked around by honda

19k bro? you really coulding fork out another grand for a brand new one? i bought my fa5 for 20k in bklyn. back on point tho, just inspect the entire car and if nothing is wrong there really is no sense in complaining. does it still smell brand new? because if it was flooded it would have had an odor that would have to be taken care of and the new car smell wouldnt be there (not at all but it would be a lot fainter than it should be for that mileage) and im mean this is nyc so flooding isnt really very likely althought im not ruling it out. its weird but if everything is 100% functional and there's no damage, just be happy.

Bare metal is going to rust regardless. Look of deposits of dirt in the nooks and crannies. Also check out the spare tire well for water level lines.

It's really easy to tell a flood-car from the aluminum blocks/heads/throttle bodies. Water causes the aluminum to turn cloudy and corrode. Especially salt water. I wouldn't worry about it.
