Angry Check Engine Light from hell

So I have a '06 Civic EX Sedan w/ about 26k. October last year (about a year after buying the car) I got a check engine light. Took it to the dealer and they said that I just needed a software update. Everything was fine until April 07 when I received another CEL which prompted me to go to the dealer who again told me that I need another software update. Luckily I have another car or else getting to work would be a huge pain.

After the dealer looked at it, they concluded that it was just a software issue and it was resolved. I go to pick it up (after hours so the dealer was already close) and turn the car on and woila, Check Engine Light immediately. I'm about ready to flip out at this point, so I call the dealer the next morning to report the problem and they say to bring it back (as if this isn't a huge inconvenience) so they can look at it again. After they look at my car they decide to replace the MAFS (mass air flow sensor) and assume that this will correct the problem. After i pickup my car the CEL is no longer on so I figure the problem was resolved by the MAFS replacement. Unfortunately, 2 days later the CEL reappears!!! Once again, I call the dealer and they apologize for the inconvenience and ask me to bring it back.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?? Also, what are my rights as far as lemon law???

Thanks

Do you have a OBDII scanner? There should be a code associated with every CEL. You might want to check your sensors - O2 sensor.

I don't have a OBD but the dealer puts it on the service report that I got each time I took my car in. The first time the codes were - 2183, 2185 PCM/ECM.

I will have to check the other records.

Thanks

you can go to autozone and they will scan it for you, just in case the deal isnt telling you everything.

You need ECT sensor 2 which is found in the lower portion of the rad......I have seen these come up a few times, but anytime my dealership has diagnosed we replaced the sensor there was never a software update regarding an issue with an ECT sensor.

Your dealership should be replacing the sensor under warranty and severly appologizing for mis-diagnosing 3 times.
