uneven tirewear.... alignment? bad tire? or neglect :(

every other tread is uneven on the inside part of the tire. thoughts ideas? alignment? bad tire? failure to rotate? bent wheel? it does it only on the rear tires on both sides. I'm running 17x7.5 40mm offset wheels (enkei Zr1) with kumho SPT 215 45 17's.

I drove 10k on my all seasons. I bought the kumhos drove 5k before rotation and this is what it looked like. NOISY AS all get out too..

My initial guess is that the wheels I'm running are wider with a different offset creating a greater toe in angle in the back which in turn caused the uneven wear. and since they are summer tires they show the wear 10x faster than the all seasons.

i know they need to be replaced but i want to make sure its something other than a bent rim before it happens again with new rubber.

any help would be great!!

When was the last time you had your alignment checked? Most places will check your alignment for free. Go get it done.

Is the wear on the inside? If it is, the civics have negative camber from the factory.

inside rear only....

thanks to the post above wit the link to discount tire
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoAlignment.dos

I'm thinking its a combo of the two

Incorrect Toe Setting = Feathered wear across tread; raised tread block edges.
AND / OR

Incorrect Camber Setting = Premature smooth wear on either inside or outside shoulder.

that inside wear will be consistent to wat you should expect from the 8th gen civic's rear sus geometry.

that is caused from both toe-in and neg camber, but such wear is
caused by the toe-in than camber. it's just the way it is on our
cars. have the alignment done to reduce toe-in on the rear... with
the expense of possible slight wandering feel over uneven roads
especially man holes on one side of the car.

I rotated them myself and the front end bounces like a superball I immeditally took them off b/c it will wear out my suspension and shake my car to pieces....

It looks like i waited too long the first time to rotate the tires... I will replace the tires and rotate every oil change (5k) sighs the all seasons show no such wear. I guess the soft summer tires weare faster and show the tire wear pattern much sooner.

Lesson Learned: rotate tires every 3-5k bah

thx guys

Alignment is all you need. I'm getting a pair of spt's soon.. I'll have them rotated every 3-5k mi.. or every 6 months.. its about the same time period .. and I do have a good deal of camber sitting on them as well :]
