Somewhere, in all of the junk you took home with you the day you took delivery, was a card with your radio code. If you can't find it, I believe the dealer should be able to help you.

it might be on the side of your glove box. open it up and look at the side towards the driver...alot of the time they put a sticker with the code on it.

They shouldn't be able to pull it off of your VIN. They would need to grab the serial number off the back of the radio, which means labor cost to pull it out of the center console.

You should have received the code on a card (about the size of a business card) with the packet that contained your manual and quick guide. Some dealers hide the card within the manual or simply place it inside your glove box. If your dealer was nice enough to help you set up an Owner's Link account on Honda's website, they may have been nice enough to enter in the radio code there as well.

well thats the main reason i wanted the code is to update my owner's link account. I can not find this card with the radio code ill check all my stuff again but havent had any luck, ill try looking on the inside also to see if i can locate it. if i have to ill take out the radio and get the serial code to avoid paying labor charges....

That's about the only time that you need it is if you disconnect the battery when you do an electrical install.

You should be able to retrieve the serial number from your radio without pulling it out.

make sure car and radio are off...
hold the 1 and 6 button
turn ignition to accessory while holding 1 and 6
turn your radio on still holding 1 and 6
the radio will show 4 numbers and then 4 more numbers

this is your radios serial number.

Call your dealer with this 8 digit number and they will be able to get the code for you.

At our dealer we make them have proof of ownership along with the serial #, the # is an anti-theft thing, if someone stole the radio they would obviously have the serial #.

^^^they do not need to pull the radio.

Bootsie your right....I don't think if you just called your dealer they would just give you the code over the phone without proof of ownership.

I can confirm they do not need to pull the stereo on new honda vehicles....any civic 2001 and newer you can get the serial number from the radio using the old 1 and 6 trick. This also works on any 2003 and newer Accords, and any newer model.

As some other people have said, if you get your serial number and call it in to a dealer they will not give you the radio code without confirming ownership of the vehicle. So you might as well just stop into the dealer with your ownership to speed things up.

PS: The dealer does not have to call Honda to confirm the serial number, they quickly run it through our Honda online system and it returns the proper radio code.

Cheers.

This is not true, just call your dealership and they should be able to give it to you over the phone. They have that information with your file. I have had to do this before.
