Radiator bugs
We'll its love bug season down here in Florida. We have had all these love bugs flying around and invading front bumpers and windshield. You drive around and you'll soon have bug guts all over the front of your car. So I was washing my car and I took a flashlight and started looking at the radiator through the lower grill. I saw quite a few dead bugs, spiders, moths, bee etc. Would this affect the radiator at all? Someone told me that it could cause your car to over heat? It sounds pretty stupid to me since these bugs are inevitable to miss and a lot of cars would have problems if this were true. Would any cleaning be necessary?

I've been keeping my Si clean lately and haven't had the Love Bugs on it BADLY. As long as you keep it clean and wash or rinse it once in a while, you should be ok. It shouldn't really do TOO much harm to the paint. It shouldn't chip off the paint. Just leave a melted looking mark on the clear coat, but you'd have to look VERY closely for that. I believe a good Clay bar, polish and wax job will bring it back to normal again. I'm leaving in a little while now to go to the car wash and use the pressure washer and some good ole Meguiars NXT soap with a wash mitt and bucket. HOPEFULLY the carwash won't be TOO busy or I won't be able to spend all that time in the wash bay cleaning my car. Bucket washing for ME takes a while!.

^ there are no signs saying "no bucket washing" but if they DID, I most likely wouldn't get caught anyways cause I get to the car wash at like 6 or 6:30am in the morning when everyone is asleep or JUST getting up. None of the employees are there yet, not untill like 9am. I got this $^!* DOWN TO A SCIENCE!
Mind you, i've been doing this for a little over a year now. I love the car wash I go to cause they're CLEAN as hell!. The bays are clean as hell with NO nails or screws! I believe they say "no bucket washing" for 2 reasons. 1. you aren't using their soap (which sucks ass anyways) so they're not making any money THAT way off of you. 2. Bucket washing USUALLY takes a long time to do unlike all those "other people" that give their cars a HALF ASS cleaning which usually goes FAST!. It's all about the "flow" of business, "come in", "go out"...."NEXT!" Last edited by Johnold; 06-05-2007 at 03:48 PM. |
