My starter sounds like crap sometimes..
Every so often when I start my Si in the morning the starter makes a sound like it's not meshing correctly with the flywheel. It's a louder meshing noise compared to the normal noise it makes. I'm going to check for loose starter bolts. If it keeps happening I'm taking it in before the flywheel or starter take a dump.
Anyone else have this issue? |

I noticed the same thing with my Civic, seems to happen all the time though. Some worse than others. On my previous Civic it started up the engine on the first or second "reeer" that you hear when turning the ignition key. With my new 2007 Civic SI I hear that "reeer" pretty much three times and then it starts up on the 4th.
It doesn't sound like it's anything bad, but it doesn't sound right either. It goes, "reer, reer, reer, brrmmm", but really fast. Does it have to do with the premium gas being 92 octane instead of 87 and being harder to combust? Edit: Don't get me wrong. This isn't anything like a dying battery where the "reer" itself lasts a good second. The 3 "reers" that you hear happen really fast, all within less than a second. |
