Exclamation Crashed Si, airbag light ON, no airbag poped out...PICS

Hey guys remember me from the "First Si crashed in Mexico"? well I have some news, the car is not totalled, the repair costs go up to $115,000 MXP ($10648 dlls). I talked to the insurance and they told me it'll be repaired, and that it would take two weeks once the parts have arrived.

One thing that worries me a lot is that they the airbag light came on in the crash, but the airbags did not popped out, now I don't know if that means that the airbags should have popped out in the crash but due to a malfunction they didn't work. What could be causing this?, I don't want to drive a car that has a problem with airbags. You think I should call Honda and tell them about this? Also, out of topic but still important, when I was trying to register to OwnersLink, the website did not recognized my VIN, I tried entering the VIN from the car and from the original papers several times (diferent day) and didn't work, I don't know what problems could result in the future from this (stolen car, etc). Sorry about the bad quality pics(OLD cell phone..)

regarding the SRS light, it might be an electrical issue. I had a 2004 Si, and the SRS light went on when I removed the driver's seat and turned on the ignition. All the SRS stuff gets checked when you turn on the car, including the seat's side airbags and seatbelt tensioners. Even when I put back the OEM seat back in, the light stayed on until I reset it.

Maybe one of the SRS parts in your car lost an electrical connection... perhaps a sensor in front?

Well, I think that if an SRS sensor "loses electrical connection", is probably due to a crash, and because of that, the air bags should have popped out. I'm I right? Yeah, I know SRS can't be reset like the oil meter, the dealer has to do it with special equipment, but what's the difference, I mean there's something wrong with either the sensors or the airbags themselves and that's what keeps me worried...

The SRS light that is just to the right of the steering wheel is actually an indicator for the passenger side airbag. This light turns on when the passenger side airbag is deactivated due to the weight sensor. For safety reasons, the passenger side airbag will only deploy when the passenger seat is empty or when a full sized adult is sitting in it because children can be seriously harmed by the airbag's deployment. The passenger seat has a load sensor in it that measures how much weight is pressing down on it. If there is too little weight (an indication that a child might be in the seat) the passenger side airbag is deactivated and that SRS light is turned on.

For example, whenever I have my book bag on the seat the light comes on. So if there is something on the seat that can trigger it.

The only other time that the light comes on is if the airbags are inactive for some other reason.

In short, do not worry. That light does not mean your airbags have deployed. In fact, if your airbags had tripped your car goes through a much more complex process that includes disabling the ignition. The light does however mean that at least you passenger side airbag, and possibly other airbags, are deactivated.

Just to cover all bases, if it is not your passenger airbag that is activated, then you are referring to the SRS symbol in the instrument cluster. This light is a standard OBDII indicator much like your Check Engine Light. It can be activated for any number of reasons including repairs made to the cars wiring, steering wheel or seats. To deactivate the light you need to go to a dealership so that they can diagnose and reset the error code in your ECU.

The mechanic just said "airbag light", but since they repair a lot of new cars, I don't think he confused it with the SRS. Still I'll go to check it, thanks guys
