High speed handling/feel

Just wondering if anyone notices a little of an unstable feeling at times when going highway speeds (ie. at or over 100km/h / 60mph). Not sure if its tires or suspension (I'm leaning more towards tires). I've ruled out the road being the cause as well, since I've noticed it on both poor highways and smooth highways. At first I thought it was winds (since the feeling is similar to when your car is pushed around somewhat by the wind), but I've noticed it on days that are not so windy as well. Anyhow, I plan to take the car in to get it checked out when I get a chance, but was wondering if anyone else has noticed this, especially those riding on the stock tires (Goodyear RS-A's in 205/55/16).

Specific to the CSX or Civics in general?

For my Si I have run it up to 125 with no stability issues. It actually feels more stable past 95 than it does at 75.

I've never noticed any stability issues, and I've had it up to 100...once. I think there might be some discrepancy between the coupes and the sedans (csx included). I feel pretty comfortable and stable when driving at speeds of around 75. It's a lot better than my '94 Civic.

Well sort of specific to the CSX, since it uses slightly different suspension bits than the Civic, although in this case I'm leaning more towards the tires, which from what I've read are the same ones used on some Civics.

The Michelin HX All Seasons that come with the Si are not the most 'sporting' on the market. I am sure they are great for treadlife, etc., however, if you like a bit of spirited driving (specifically referring to spirited cornering and letting your LSD do some work), new performance tires are a must. Unless you like spinning or drifting corners.

I came close to ending up in a rock pile just yesterday taking the airport connector to i215 (diminishing radius) loop at about 60. As it tightens up toward the end the tires just said "we quit". Tires and wheels are on their way so this should improve things.

I think all sedans have rear shock problems.
Mine is terrible. And is getting worse.
30 mph on a turn, all is fine... Hit a bump while on the turn and the car drastically changes course.

Mine is very stable and secure at highway speeds. I have Bridgestone tires.

130mph in the si..felt pretty damn solid...but then a gain its a coupe with diffrent suspension, yea most likely its the tires.. i have the ones that are not sport, i forget which ones,,, and ive broken them loose at around 60-65 on a turn..it was fun sliding, but as long as it stays on the road its fun!!!

Ditto. I guess the CSX needs a couple mods done to it? :) Toss some Tien coilovers underneath there when they come out. It'll be sure to remedy any suspension problems.

My four door and I went 197KM/h for a good 20 minutes on the highway. That's with winter tires! Nothing wrong with this car at high speed. It still wants to push but I got it by the speed limiter at 200... Hondata, help me! hehe

Probably the worst milage ever for a 2006 Civic :P

Had it checked out yesterday and everything was fine (the tech did take quite some time checking over the suspension and tires). I think its a combination of this car being more prone to crosswinds and the somewhat numb feeling of the electronic steering at higher speeds that I'm not used to.

Anyhow, thanks for all your replies.

Are you talking about a slight pull to either side after reaching highway speeds? I thought it was the wind too, but, like you, I have noticed it on calm days. It kinda catches me off guard sometimes, but nothing I cant handle.

Yeah, kind of slight pull. It doesn't happen all time, but on occasion when going highway speeds. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I think it has to do with the EPS, which I guess I'm still getting used to.
