Rev hang ruining my clutch?

I purchased a new 2007 Civic SI two nights ago, car is great and a blast to drive. However, it has some pretty serious rev hang, but I know there's nothing I can really do about that. I searched and read all the topics on the issue. Just a bit of a shock going from my 2004 Honda Civic where the revs drop instantly to this one where it holds for a good full second.

So anyway, what are you guys doing to coupe with this? Do you just wait for the revs to fall? (Seems like I wait forever) I've been using the clutch to kind of gently force the revs down, just feathering it really. Only way I can have the revs drop normally and smoothly without me looking like a bad driver.

Is this going to wear out my clutch faster?

If i want to up-shift i first let my foot off the gas completely, wait for maybe half a second, then I depress the clutch, it seems to help, but it makes shifting slower and less fun.

In theory yes the clutch is wearing but it's not under serious load so I don't see it harming it much...my .02

You'll eventually learn to adapt to it. Similarly, what I'm doing is not fully engaging the clutch. I'll wait a bit.

the clutch is a expendable item, sooner or later it'll need to be replaced. normal shifting is not something that's going to give it unnecessary wear

The clutch is wearing a bit more than a car without this problem. Main reason being you're trying to force the engine to engage into a lower gear. In this case you just have to live with it and wait a bit longer but you can still get smooth results by not waiting.

Make sure your car has the latest ECU version. This shouldn't be an issue for you with an '07, but next time you're at the dealer for service, have them check the ECU version number and make sure you have the latest. Honda release an update to the ECU from the original '06 Si's that helped a little bit with the rev hang issue (didn't eliminate it). They will check it (and reflash if needed) at no cost to you...

I have rev hang very noticable in a non-Si Civic sedan. Would the dealer be able to do the same for me? I have asked before and they have plead ignorance!

Thanks.

There is still rev hang/DBW problems with the 07's, just not as bad or enough for Honda to do anything about it at this point....I know exactly what the OP is saying as I have the same thing/concerns and was actually wanting to take it to the dealership and ask them if this was normal/have them check everything out. With only 5,500 miles, I am worried about the clutch and it seems to feel odd at times....
