minor prob......i think

I have 100 miles on my sedan lx. I noticed a clunk noise towards the engine bay when i start up and pull out of a parking spot. Doesnt happen while driving and turning. Instance......Start car, put it in reverse, and pull out turning to desired direction and while im turning and start moving the clunk happens. Its not a cold start thing either. After a day of driving, i parked the car and shut it off. It made the same noise when i pulled out again. This is crazy. I have had the car for 6 days and i should have a problem already. i dont race it or anything, just drive it normally. Thanks for the help.

I hear the same thing on my EX Coupe. I think it's a sticky parking brake releasing when first driven. Not a real big concern unless it starts to do it a lot or while driving.

Clunk? Does it actually make a "clunk" sound? Like a tin can hitting the ground or something?

Yep.. same here... release parking break... inch forward slightly and feel a vibration and a sound the reminds me of the ABS sound when I'm braking in slippery conditions... maybe related?

Except I have a manual, not auto. I hear it when I put it in gear and start to move after the car's been sitting still for a while (like overnight) which is why I think it's the parking break that's just temporarily seized to the rotors.

Could be the ABS system doing a self-diagnostic. I know previous Honda/Acura models made a slight sound when you first pulled away after starting the car and this was the reason (perfectly normal).

Never really noticed it in my CSX though.

i know what you're talking about. when i'm about to stall as i let go of the clutch with too little gas, i can hear a metal noise. i wonder if that's normal or not.

I have the Sedan EX 5AT and I also hear a quick double click coming from the front end when I've reversed about 10-15 feet out of my parking space in the morning.

And check this one out-- went to a friend's house warming gig the other day. He lives in the some rolling hills. I backed up a faily steep incline for a short distance (20-30 feet) and then shifted back into drive to come back down and position the vehicle next to the curb...... and out from the front end comes a much louder CLICK, bordering on a SNAP. Wierd...... aside from the noise, the trans seems operationally sound in all other respects.

Having the dealer give it a look on Friday anyway.

Thanks for the replies. The noise is like a metal to metal sound. I went to the dealer and they told me they may have to add a shim kit to the front brake assembly. Or it could be a bushing. I am scheduled for next Sat @ 930 to get it fixed. Ill let everyone kow what the problem was.
