Pinging/Knocking LX Sedan

Hey,

I now have a little over 12K on my 06 LX sedan.

As of lately, under moderate acceleration, I hear alot of pinging and or knocking from my engine.

With the radio off, it's pretty obvious and it happens regularly now.

The only thing I noticed is that the air filter looked pretty darn filthy and i will replace it this weekend.

I tried changing gas brands but to no avail.

I would have to take it to the dealer as they always claim either nothing is wrong or it's normal plus you take a chance with dings, dents, scratches and the rest.

Any suggestions or this a dealership visit issue??

Thanks.

try steping up to 89 octane and see if the pinging goes away. it shouldn't knock on 87 octane, unless you got a bad batch of gas.

I will try the increase in octane but it does it from fill up to fill up.

I know a few others have posted this issue but that was quite a while ago.

If it gets worse, back the stealership it is.

Hey i also get this pinging, it usually doesnt happan in normal driving, just when i try to make it ping.
91 ocatane gas will fix it, also try not to lug the engine or stab the throttle , as this is how it pings in my dx.
The engine is high compression, so i figure this is normal, as long as it doesnt get worse.

I think you may have to either adapt your driving style to a way that doesnt make this sound, or live with the pinging and turn the radio up, or use 91 octane.
Im choosing to do the latter, i came to the conclusion that our motors are 10.5 compression so the computer doesnt have time to retard the ignition fast enough so thats why we get that ping. It wont hurt the engine, but for me its not tolerated.
also, there isnt enough support from other owners so we cant do anything warrenty wise.
