I couldn't consistently produce the noise by pushing down on the trunk either, hence I had to make the video just in case I couldn't produce the noise at the dealership. But the problem had gotten so severe that the noise came anytime I was going <5mph on less than perfect pavement, that I was able to have the tech hear it on the testdrive. Best bet would be to find a place with the pavement needed where you can readily produce the noise somewhere near the dealership so that you can take the mechanic there for a testdrive, or make a video recording. Goodluck.

The noise on mine did not happen all the time either. It only made the noise at low speeds and only after driving for a while.

when i reverse into my garage, after my front wheels are inside i hear a big "thump" coming from the rear... is it likely i'm having the same problem? the sound in the video was a lot worse than the one i'm hearing...

Chylld: Seems like this problem is mostly isolated to NA Si's. Yours being the Australian Civic, it's probably a different problem. Also, you said it was just one thump? The problem this thread is about is more of a series of creaking/croaking noises, as heard in the video. Most likely you have another problem.

i have a 07 si and bout a month ago i noticed that when i go over a speed bump at an angle the driver side suspension pops really loud. cant tell if its coming from the front or back, but a loud pop is def there. and it only happens when i go over a speed bump or if i turn onto an uneven road. do yall think its the same problem your having?

Taff7Si: sorry i didn't reply, email notif didn't work again.

my problem is definitely different to the one in the video... it sounds more like the one Dragon88 is having. but hey it might be different, but it's a thump sound coming from the rear of the car, so i thought i'd chime in here.

my car's in for service (again!) so when the service manager gets back to me i'll share what my problem is (unless of course honda does yet ANOTHER dodgy on me and tells me there is no problem)

I had the same problem as the OP. Had my strut replaced under warranty and the noise has not returned.

But now I have so many other odd noises that I can't keep track of which is which.

chylld and dragon88: Seems like you're having the front suspension pop/clunk problem (there should be a couple other threads about that, see http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41059). I have that pop too sometimes when I go over a speedbump/curb, or when I turn in to a right hand corner. I've only ever had this pop from the front driver's side. The problem with that popping problem is that it is hard to replicate for the mechanic. The rear passenger creaking noise that is described by this thread was much more consistent and thus easily reproducible for the mechanic.

the problem i was trying to describe was a "thump" from the rear of the car, not a "clunk" from the front of the car.

i have the front-end clunk too, so i know they're separate problems :)
