Brocket bolt and Stripped bolts during valve cover install!
This is a picture of the head as you all know and as I was putting on my JDM valve cover the bolts that are in red, one of them broke off at the top where the caps go on to secure the valve cover to the head. I wanted to know if those bolts are pressed or screwed in, I checked in Manual and it appers like it is. We even torqued it to the right settings so the wrench might be messed up. We put everything back together and turned the car on and oil didnt shoot out, but one of the washers with seal is not secured down. We just pushed it in real hard. We are going to drive it to Honda Tommorow which is only 2 miles down the road in the morning for them to fix.

They are not pressed, they screw in some are short and some are long it is best you take out the bolt you broke and take it to the dealer for a replacement bolt it is an easy fix, and the bolt comes with a new rubber grommet and washer. You can drive around for a few day but oil will start coming out thru the bolt eventually if you do not replace it.
Good Luck. |
