Yeah I see it now too. At first glance it does look like a chain.

Wow, you are lucky no one was riding shotgun. They would probably not exist anymore.

its amazing that you walked away from that thing (although without your tie), especially considering that all these safety features (airbags, ACE body structure) were completely worthless in that type of accident. It sounds like the seatbelt is what kept you alive. (I'm going to assume you were wearing a seatbelt)

the passenger may have kept him awake, or the passenger may have just also fell asleep, and well...

Damn! I'm glad you're alive and doing okay. Cars can be replaced. I'll preach later about driving while tired.

I would recommend Monster energy drink for nighttime driving. Its $2.99 CAN for a 500ml can. Drink it about 30 minutes before you drive (if its late and you're tired). It also helps to move a bit to get your blood circulated so that the drink takes full effect. I hope you're ok (mentally)

Damn! it got crushed like a tin can and ^ is right if someone was in the passenger side most likely they would of died. After seeing all these wreck treads im starting to worry about the safety of the 8th gen Civic. It crushes like a tin can,i can understand because of the ACE body structure but come on Honda you could of done better then just adding a thin sheet of steel over the doors, body panels they should of added thicker steel to them then most likely the car wouldn't be in such a bad condition. After seeing this My poor civic!! *Warning: Large Damage Pics it clearly looks like Honda only puts one thin sheet of steel over the doors where some vehicles have more inside the door and outside. Example is the Cobalt,Focus,Caliber,CRV,Sentra,Camry have very thin metals that look like you can push it in with your index finger and might be destroyed in an accident. Whats the purpose of doing this? to cut cost down or what? hell the 7th gen Civic didn't have thin metal what gives?!?

Glad you're okay man. Your car is most definitely totalled, i'm sure. The chassis looks completely bent.

GD that sucks man. Glad you're OK.

I'd put a cross in front of that tree, but that's just me...
Let us know how the new car search turns out.

Did you get any tickets??

I'm glad you're here to tell us about it. If that tree had hit the drivers door like that I'm afraid you wouldn't be with us anymore.

You got lucky man, lucky to be alive that is - glad you are OK.

So very sorry to see your car is torn up.

Blessing in disguise? Now you can get an SI!

Unfortunately you're only 18 (like me) so people are gonna look down on you at this and chalk it up to you being immature. I don't see why ANYONE should flame you, shit like this happens. I thought the story was gonna be "I tried showing off for a girl and passed someone on the shoulder and hit a tree" or something. You dozed off.. it sucks, but it happened. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Yeah, I agree with ^^

This forum in general flames too much. Especially about "ohhh if you drink more than a sip before you drive you're f**kin stupid and deserve to die you POS". Sucks man, especially for being so young. If it's totalled and you get the money back, I say get something completely new (I.e. not another civic), just my $.02
