It's just plain simple luck.
Well, no car is completely safe.. and no car ever will be with the exception of it having no motor, no wheels, etc. etc. etc... But, some cars are obviously more safe than others and that's when stuff like this comes into play. For example, I've seen quite a few wrecked 7th gens that just shrugged off the accident with no real problem, while very similar accidents involving 8th gens seems to total them out completely. To be honest, aside from exterior design safety is the only thing that I'm happy about as far as my 7th gen is concerned. Well, that and how comfortable it is to drive long distances in.. that's a huuge plus.

GL ominous, I hope that no matter what you walk away from this with newfound knowledge (whatever that may apply to), and a car that you're 100% happy with. Out of curiousity, what were your payments on that? Because, I'm pretty sure that they'll be close to what they would be if you put that whole insurance check down on an 07 sti limited.

Be safe.

i like the tie hanging out the window in the pics at the scene, but then seeing it still in the car at the scrap yard was kinda wierd.

Trying to sell of parts is like desecrating a grave. Let that poor engineering marvel lie in everlasting repose.

what???

In repose??? This isn't a fallen Marine simply a smashed car and it will be dismantled by a salvage yard and the remainder after all useable parts are sold will be CRUSHED and recycled into a Craftsman lawn tractor.

It would be nice if people recycled parts more often. I'd rather disgrace my own property by taking the parts than someone else doing it. Believe me, if you don't consider it, the person that lays eyes on it for the first time in the salvage yard will!

I tell my friends all the time, sometimes its worse driving sleepy than it is to drive drunk.

Either way, careful out there, call for rides when ya need one.

Well I don't know about sleepy, but Mythbusters did prove that talking on your cell phone while driving can be equally, if not more dangerous than driving drunk. (Love that show.)
