Side View Mirror carnage si coupe

Yeah so I was making my own lane this morning and hit a large trash can with my pass side mirror. What it retarded, is that these things do not rotate. They did in my ep3, and it was awesome, such a hit would have simply rotated the mirror. Well, on my 06 si coupe it broke broke the side view, so that it is not loose and and moves freely. I am at work, without my tools, but open it up and visit the damage shortly. I tried popping the entire mirror back in place, and I heard a loud snap.. presumable I broke a tab, ut I thought this thing was screwed into place.... any advice would be greatly appreciated!

so...you were driving on the shoulder and hit somthing? and you hoped/thought that your mirrow would simply fold up? you didnt know it doesnt fold?

my advice...stop trying to drive around people on the shoulder. i hate people that do that. maybe next time you will get a ticket

dont waste your time trying to repair it and go buy a new one considering they only cost like $60.00 from college hills honda.

I knew it didn't fold, I thought I had the clearance. I live in California where the weak do not survive. Not driving aggressively may work in Long Island, but on the left coast, it's not a choice. Just ask the 10 cars behind me doing the same thing.

you must be kidding me right? you must have no idea what it is like driving on long island! imagine living on an island where there are very few ways to get off...the traffic here is rediculous. and many people drive on the shoulder, and i hate every last one of them. why do they feel like they are better and should just avoid the traffic at the light or whatever?!?!

if it isnt traffic for NYC on long island it is traffic for the beaches or the hamptons...

Not driving stupid may keep your car from having a busted side mirror.

Sucks that you broke your mirror though. Best bet is buy an entire new assembly from hondapartsdeals.com or collegehillshonda.com cost you somewhere in the ballpark of $100. Do this and you know it's done right...no potential busted tabs or anything and the power function will be guaranteed to work.

Sorry dude...we drive as aggressive as anyone down here in south Florida and only the idiots try the shoulder trick...then...people pull half on and half off the road and block their ass in.

The lines on the road aren't simply for reference...they mean something.

Yeah so I pulled the mirror. Honda deserves SOME credit, essentially the door bolts to a plastic retainer, and the mirror to the retainer, therefore excessive stress will damage the retainer, rather than the thin metal panal in the door to which the mirror attaches. I brokes the retainer, I started to jb weld it, but like yuo said: f(u)ck it, $48 from majestichonda....

thanks!

Sweet...glad it wasn't all that bad. I did the old JB weld on a mirror that simply let go (it was a chevy what can I say) and that worked until I got rid of the car...but mine hadn't been stressed the boss where the screw mounted to simply cracked from sun damage and winter cold.

For this car...replacing that retainer is the best thing...nice. Glad you'll be good to go.

You cannot replace the retainer, have to do the whole thing, but I'm ok with that. $66 shipped is a joke. On the ep3 parts cost WAY WAY WAY more than the fg2. S(hit), a new bumper costs $180 on this car.... the interior trim pieces are dirt cheap as well. I am seriously starting to like this car, so easy to replace everything my recklessness breaks... it's a disposable honda lol!

yep...a friend of mine was telling me you can basically replace the entire interior from stripped metal to fully furnished for less than $1000 or something...they finally got something right. Make the parts affordable. I'm really loving this car and Honda at this point.
