3rd gear problems poll

READ BEFORE VOTING

I want this as accurate as possible

Please lets keep posts about problems w/ 3rd gear down to 0, there are enough of em around here.
Feel free to talk about the poll, or if a dealer contacted you to change your fluid we would like to know.

If you have a problem w/ 3rd gear or for non 8th gen owners gears (for test purpose) it must include:

Must occur on more than one occasion
During Normal Daily Driving
Regardless of Ambient Temperature

If you changed your MTF, please vote based on the stock fluid that came with the car unless: you were contacted by honda/dealer/told by honda/dealer to do so. Then if you were contacted feel free to vote on how the change was after they told you to change.

If it weren't for 8thcivic.com i would have never changed my MTF so we should only vote by how the manufacture would have done so.

Ah crap i forgot our non USDM brothers, can a admin list 06-07 NON-USDM civic/CSX, thanks

While the stock fluid was in there I had grinding and poping out issues. Since changing to Gm Syncromesh I have had not problems.

Grinded horribly before. Honda replaced syncromesh, then tranny was still notchy. Finally after swapping to Amsoil MTF, the problem's gone entirely.

I went with the AMSOIL MTF and, so far, no more 3rd gear problems. My tranny was about 1 pint overfilled, too. It's only been about 1 week, so still testing... I wonder if being too full caused the problem as much as anything else...

I had quite a bit of trouble with 3rd in my 07 Si. I was really notchy, would grind fairly often, and would pop out on occasion. I changed my MTF with Amsoil and it's been much better since. It's still a bit notchier than other gears, but it's a lot smoother, and no more grinding or popping out.

took her to the dealer today, they replaced it under the January Honda news letter, good thing I printed it, they asked to see it, now it feels like a whole new car going from 2nd to 3rd.

07 FG2.

3rd was never an issue for me. I swapped to Amsoil as preventative maintenance. 2-3 is my favorite shift.

I used to have occasional issues with 2nd (especially upshifting near redline under heavy throttle) but lately it seems to be just fine.
