Clicking noise

Hey i did a research on this before but i just wanted to know how many 06/07 Si's here have that clicking noise on the left of the engine when having it just idle? I have 280 miles now and just went to the dealer and he said it was completely normal but i just didnt believe him. I never heard of this clicking sound ever since i hit 200+ miles. Another thing, if that sound was normal, shouldnt i have heard of that sound the first day i drove it?

I'm not sure if the clicking noise has been there all along, but I have recently noticed it tonight because it was loud and bothersome.

The click sounds almost sounds like a "tick tick tick tick". (that was probably a horrible explanation of what it sounds like --> apologizes).

I installed the Injen CAI probably over a month ago. No vaccum leak, all the hoses are clamped down w/ new clamps (didn't reuse the OEM ones) and I let the car idle for 15 minutes before driving?

What can be causing this noise?

I have also noticed a little ticking noise when the engine is idle ('07 Si), and everything (air, radio, etc) is off. The engine only does it after it's been warmed a while and driven. First thing in the morning I don't notice it until I get to work and park the car, which makes me feel more comfortable since it makes me believe it has something to do with the heat and engine expanding and maybe that's the causes of the tick. I haven't taken my car to the dealer yet, but it seems like a "normal" engine noise. It's not overly obtrusive, but I'll agree it's definitely there.

It makes me feel better that you said that the mechanic at the dealer said it was normal though.

Tick..tick...tick

Since so many hear this ticking at idle my answer is...it is the fuel injectors. They are electromechanical devices that inject fuel when prompted by the engine management computer and do this by opening a tiny "valve" each time a cylinder requires fuel to be injected (many times a second) and each time they are activated there is a tiny click or tick. This is a perfectly normal noise and all port injected vehicles (these days that is ALL vehicles) do this. You will NEVER do away with this faint tick because it is part of the engines normal operating function. NORMAL.

I had a similar click noise on my FG1 EX

IT was on the left side also and it happens to make a click or pop sound when I go over bumps, Uturns, or turning Left...I went to the dealer and drove with a technician and it made the pop/click noise n he told me it was sumtn to do with the ball bearing and a screw...take it to the dealer n have sum1 ride with you! I know its annoying as hell

Something loose? Did you check under the hood and see if there is anything that could be loose and making that noise? Did you connect everything behind the bumper aka the Cai bracket, correctly? Maybe the Filter is too cloose to the inside part of the bumper and is banging against it?

I agree that a "faint" ticking noise would be normal but it seems these people are having a slightly louder ticking noise!? I can never hear my fuel injectors tick on my car unless I have the hood open and really listen for them.
But maybe others on here have oversensitive hearing

OK...you cannot hear injector noise at other than idle and even then mostly with the hood up and listening for it. It is there but not obtrusive. If these noises occur at road speeds while actually driving all bets are off on my answer... It is impossible to diagnose vehicle noises via internet. That is what the dealer is for.

I just did that and everything it tightened as should and the filter is not bumping again the bumper. I also notice that the rattle goes away when driving (i.e. idle @ redlight = rattle noise, in 1st gear waiting for the light to turn green = still rattle noise, green light and car starts moving = rattle noise gone) <-- maybe it is just the fuel injectors then?

thank you everyone for your reply and quick responses. i just came back from the dealer and i had him open another 07 Si and it did not have that clicking sound. He then looked confused and still said it was normal. Does anyone know a great Honda dealer or anyone that can check this out for me in the Brooklyn New York area? this has been freaking me out.

i have another question, if i have never heard of this clicking sound the day i purchased the car, then it is not suppose to exist unless there is a problem correct?

Well, not necessarily depending on how severe that sound really is. As someone said it is very difficult to diagnose a sound via the Internet.
If you don't like what the first dealer is telling you I would take it to another dealer near you. There has to be others in your area.
Maybe since your car is now "broken in" there may be some metal parts rolling around the crankcase

Change the oil and see if that helps.
