happens to me and my coupe sometimes too. what i came up with was the type of clothing i wear (static) and the way i got out of the car. In the winter i wore my wool coat that covers my butt and i would turn in my seat, swing my legs out and then get up and as i close the door i would get shocked. There really i no way of getting rid of this, just try and get out of the car a little differently (don't rub so much) maybe change ur shoes to be more grounded (i'm wearing flipflops most of the time now) Or just close the door with another part of ur body (ie. elbow, shoulder, butt)
If u want to get scientific find a way to absorb the static (laundry sheet or ground urself or the car lol) |

i got shocked once, but that was when i got out the old lady way, i had one hand on the front door panel (outside) and the other touched just in front of the rear window as i pulled myself out...it was shock but nothing for me to be concerned about...now you know why you should not get back into your car when fueling. Yes they do have features to avoid static shock but better be safe then have your new civic blown up

Dude so funny because i told my girlfriend today right after it happened(and it shocks me real bad to) and she thought it was funny. And then i saw this thread. Hilarious man, anyways its gotta be the fabric in our seats and some sort of static between the seat and our clothes, plus the carpet. But the funny thing is the part that shocks u is the plastic pillar that covers egde of the door frame. Close your door next time you get out of your si by touching that part and you will see what i mean.

Touch your key to your car before you touch it (key hole). The static charge will dissipate though the key, and you'll be able to close the door w/o getting shocked.
Alternatively, you can touch the outside of you car as you get out. Here in AZ, it's a big problem for me in any car I get out of (esp. in the winter time) |
