definitly one of those perfectly bad days
i'd love to share with my fellow 8thers my WHOLE entire bad day...but i really want to go just straight to the point where it involves my car
i've had a couple of friends install my cai and aftermarket fogs several days ago...they seemed to know what they were doing...and i drove home with no problems...until...several days later(ONE HOUR AGO) while i was driving at around 60 mph? part of what i believe is my fender hung off and dragged into the road, and then the wire that connected the two fog ligts flopped out as well....i IMMEDIALITY stopped to the side of the road...and there it was, hanging like a senior citizens balls in gym shorts.GAHH ![]() AAAH!!! ![]() ![]() im guessing my little buddy didnt put the bolts back on correctly...or we didnt cut some part of the fender since the fogs and the cai didnt really fit 100%... |

thats the front bumper's under the body cover..
it keeps things from bouncing UP in there if i were you, I would keep that there.. thats the part that u remove IF you are changing your fog light bulbs.. possibly also the part if u are removing/changing the CAI filter \when working with those push clip holders, u should always make sure to pull and tug on them to verify they dont come off or get blown off on the freeway.. if any are broke/loose, i think theyre readily available at dealers.. the damage looks fixable. might have a few broken /cracked edge?

wow... hmmmm
Well yeah as they said it's part of the bumper. At least the whole part didnt rip off otherwise you'd be in some serious trouble as this is your main guard from hyrdolocking your car due to your CAI. Good luck though.. hopefully none of the holes were damaged too bad where you have to completely replace it. |

That is true.. that part is about $50 on collegehillshonda. Really easy to replace.. just jack the car up.. remove the tire and pull out the old one. But I also looks like the corner where the piece connects to the bumper on the corner got damaged. If that part got damaged, then would you have to replace the entire bumper? I think like one or two bumper clips connect to that bumper on the corner to the inner fender lining. |

No need to even remove the tires..
theres those lil pins that u can pop their tops with flat head screw drivers.. then pull out.. in his case, he just needs to get the those pins and pop em in. the rubber guard (that seems to have ripped off) seems to be ok. just gotta push em in those lil slits n the clips will hold them in place as well

I didn't think so because the strip hanging off the bumper holds the front part of the inner lining. IF you just use a clip then it would pretty much would still hang because that inner liner is heavier than the tiny strip in front. I just took a look at another fog light DIY and saw where it clips to. The wind is going to blow down on that liner unless its attached to the front. I know because when I installed my fogs, I wasn't able to get all the clips back in and the inner fender came loose and was rubbing against my tire. It was on my driver's side where my CAI and I got it replaced fast because I didn't want to risk. I didn't have to cut the fender either to make the CAI fit. Don't worry we've all had our screw ups.. you learn from it. I had to replace that inner fender lining and the air assist valve due to my errors. Better to learn your mistakes on your own car rather than working on someone else's right? GL man.. hopefully the dealership won't try to rip you off. |
