grinding like noise

It's been a long time (over a year now) since my 98 HX civic has the noise. It doesn't matter how fast or slow I drive it, I hear a kind of loud noise that it's like grinding coffee. I took it to the dealer and they had no idea. All I could come up with was the ball bearings; they changed the front left but the noise didn't disappear.
it's hard to tell where is it coming from, front, back. Any ideas? I will be taking it to a mechanic (not dealer) but as usual, I want to have an idea and not completely rely on the mechanic.

Any suggestions?
thanks

this is in the wrong forum...this is for the new 8th gen civics.

try honda-tech and post your problem there...there will be people that can help you

i think for anyone here or HT to help you you need to be more specific on where the noise is coming from.

btw...where are you located? someone on here or myself might be able to recommend a reliable mechanic for you to take your car to

Transmission? I know the HX's have CVT transmissions instead of a regular auto and the HX's were the first to test em out.
