I Need Help Fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok fellow si owners i need ur assistance and advice really bad, i own an 06 si and i have it completely stick with the exception of an aem short ram intake and also the new cat-back greddy ti-c exhaust, so on wednesday my car began to make a really bad humming noise and it also felt like the car was loseing a great amount of power. i took the car to the dealer ship and they told me that it was a rod bearing that caused the problem, my concern now is will does the dealership have the power to void the warranty because of the exhaust or is there something that can be done to counter this because i know for a fact that the problem is a factory mistake and not one of my own. so please some one help!

check the diy section. theres laws that keep dealerships from voiding your warranty because of aftermarket parts. unless the part is at fault.

As long as they cant prove your mods caused the problems, they have no legal right to void your warranty and make you pay for the problem. Just be able to explain exactly how each of you mods work and explain that they have nothing to do with the rods if they try to stick the void warranty on you

I realize you're new, but please do a search. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum...

How did they know it was the rod bearing? Did they drop the pan to verify? or was it an experienced guess? Typically a spun bearing will have symptoms of: rhythmic tapping with increase in RPM, metal shaving in oil pan, and lastly knocking, or no acceleration when throttle is applied.
Like other's have indicated, to make your warranty claim easier, I woudl put the it back to stock. The MMA places burden of proof on the delarship to prove the aftermarket parts are at fault, but they can refuse to work on your vehicle due to modifications. I've seen it happen lots with Mitsus, and Dodges. Don't take the dealership's BS. |

Back to the OP, I can't see how they would be able to relate an aftermarket cat-back exhaust or an aftermarket intake to a rod bearing... |
