SRI: leaking or loud sucking sound?

For everyone who has SRI (I have K&N), ever since I installed it, the hissing and sucking sound has been very noticeable at some points.

It's quiet at the beginning, but it gets louder when I press the gas about half way down, and goes away again when I am fully engaged. This happens regardless of gears and rpms that I am in.

As long as it's not air leak, I am fine, but how loud is your intake sucking noise? Is this normal?

that is perfectly normal bro, your intake sucks in air. all intakes make that sound.

I also have the K&N. Its normal, your going to hear it because the filter is basically sitting right right in front of you. It's right on the firewall so your going to hear everything as apposed to a CAI where the filters a little farther from you. Don't be alarmed

Most intakes will make your engine sound noticeably different, ESPECIALLY when you jump on the throttle, and there is not much exhaust sound yet.

On an N/A car, you might be able to hear the air rush passed the TB, especially with an SRI.

Turbo's intakes don't change the sound as much

S/C cars get scary loud with an intake

You can hear an SC here: http://lsjbuildup.com/video.php?vid=...n&source=media

I have a Injen SRI and at half throttle sounds like mine is boosting up like a turbo then when I get WOT it roars... another cool/funny thing if I turn my music off and im driving around anywhere between 20-50mph if I let of the gas all the way and coast.. when I push the gas all the way to the floor even at 3k rpm my rear view mirror will shake like I got bass.. lol but yeah its normal

I honestly think that is the best thing about having an intake.

I'm getting the same thing but it's most noticeable between 2800-4000RPMS. Is it kind of the metallic sounding? If I ease into the throttle it stay sounding pretty stock and if I stomp on it it roars, but if you just accelerate normally it sounds kind of funny. I was paranoid that it was vibrating into the brake lines at the back of the engine bay (it's a damn tight fit with the K&N), but hopefully it's normal. It certainly has me paranoid though. It's almost impossible to see back there to confirm whether you're rubbing or not, I guess I'll just hope all is OK. It also doesn't make the noise when you're parked because I tried to check it out parked but couldn't get it to make the noise.

oh thank god this is normal
just did an injen sri install , never even worked on a motor by myself! i am very methodical however so hopefully it went okay. i do have a tendency to be extremely paranoid :S. only thing that worries me is when doing the coolant bypass i lost a fair amount of coolant - guess ill have to check the level for sure

You can hear an SC here: NoRemorse - Saturn ION Redline
Are you sure about the Turbo and Intake statement. There is a drastic difference in the spool up noise bewteen a OEM boxed intake and a open filter element. Not to mention on some turbos (mainly Garret based), you can hear the turbine wheel whine down like a diesel in the intake and exhaust.
