Trunk Lock broken

I guess my trunk lock was broken when i pulled the panel out to install the amp wiring. the lock will not engage, it just spins and doesnt lock anything. the dealer said it was my fault and they wouldnt fix it. understandable, however i looked at it again and it looks like two metal peices. does anyone know how to put this back together a certain way to make it work? i really cant see it just being "broke". thanks

Sounds like maybe the tension spring fell out. I had the same problem in mine. If you can find it, it's easy to put back, just pop off the black plastic covering and you can kinda see how it attaches back to the hook. If you can, take some pictures. And look for any small 1" long springs.

Pretty much there's the black hook thing that keeps the trunk locked, and then the mechanism that moves back and forth, and a spring that allows the hook to snap into place. It, for the most part, just sits there and is why it's so prone to fall off. Mine fell off just by closing the trunk lid too hard. However you'll need like a flathead screwdriver to pry off the black plastic covering over the mechanism to see if the spring is missing. Then it's just a matter of attaching on side to the hook and the to the moving mechanism.

And, like before, if you can get some pictures of it with the cover off, and you are, in fact, missing the spring. I can show you exactly where it needs to go if you don't figure it out for yourselves. I'd take my own pictures but I don't have the Civic anymore.

I believe the OP is talking about the trunk handle inside of the car.

Well he said that the thing just spins, and the only thing I can picture that spins, was the black hook when my spring fell out. I can't picture the floor handle spinning...

It's not broken, you just have to mess with it. I had the same problem when I removed that same panel..

no, it all went back together just fine. no humps or areas that dont go down. it just feels like the metal cylinder and plate dont catch. i am going to look again tomorrow though and check.
