My first act of stupidity.

Today, I parked my car in the parking lot and I went forward too much. I ended up damaging the under area of the front bumpers because of the cement parking block "log". There's some pretty deep scratches and one another small area is scuffed up a bit, but no paint peeling away. I took my car to the dealership and the salesman said that don't worry because it's plastic and nothing will happen even during the winters with all the snow and salt. Ok, there is no visible frontal damage, one would need a mirror to see the damage underneath. I'm wondering if I should get it fixed like using touch up paint or something? I worry if I don't do anything about it the damage will spread. The salesman said that I shouldn't even bother with the touch up paint or even getting it fixed at all. Lastly, I own a 2007 Honda Civic LX sedan.

Well, it's true that the bumper is plastic, and thus will not rust on you.

Some people are definitely more inclined to fix every little scratch and dent on the car - this is not visible and won't really affect everything. I personally would take half an hour sometime and touch it up just for the sake of getting some practice with the touch up paint - not only that, just knowing that it's done and if you ever needed to sell the car in a pinch, someone that's inspecting every little thing might not see that.

Welcome to the site!

I personally don't think it will be a big deal. The first time I did that I got nervous about the resale, but all drivers will hit the concrete one time or another.

I think dentrecords idea is pretty good too.

Ok, I'm planning to put touch up paint on the underneath area of my front bumpers. However, what should I use and what precautions should I take as it is upside down? I know that you must wash it clean before painting it. Also, the temperature has to be at least 50F. The salesman told me that I should paint a very thin layer and wait for several hours and paint another thin layer. Has anyone here tried using touch up paint underneath a bumper? I know it's going to be very challenging and I might end up using a mirror in order to see it. I won't be doing it anytime soon as I'll have to wait for the weather to warm up.

Your's is not that bad it's just plastic. At least it wasn't as stupid as me. I parked next to some rocks, I stayed in there for a while, then just opened the door and and notice that I slammed my door onto the rocks. I was like FU*K...
