Rolling Fenders

Any one got any advice on how to roll the lip on the fender to gain more clearance for the wheels. I got an Si with Tein SS and Tracklites 17x8 235/40/17. the front doesnt rub but the rear does even without the camber kit to straighten the wheels up.

You can go to some auto shops and rent a roller.

Or have them roll them for you.

The bat method is cheep but if you want to do it correctly use the roller, it's what it's made for. If you want to, you could always cut the fender.

Me personally I would pay someone to do it using the proper equipment (ie. a tool designed specifically for rolling fenders) Not only will it most likely roll the fender more evenly but you risk cracking th paint if you don't know what your doing or you use a bat.

And by adding a camber kit to straighten the wheels up that would actually create more rub. Most people with wider wheels who might have rubbing issues use a camber kit to adjust there camber to a negative camber to lower the likelihood of rubbing. Aside from that stepping your tire size down to a 225 or 215 would really make the difference and i would go back up to an aspect ratio of 45 personally.

Here is the comparison of different tire sizes stock compared to what you are running and how other sizes would compare.

So I'd either recommend going with a 225/45/17 or back to the stock tire size of 215/45/17 both would give you more clearance. Yes they wouln't have as large of a contact patch but you give and you take. Wide tire=rub, slightly narrower tire= no rub.

I know this is an old thread but I figured I would respond with the info I know.

if you roll the fender with a fender rolling machine... make sure they heat the fender with a heat gun so they don't chip your paint... make sure they take their sweeet ass time while heating up the paint. other than that, you should be good... as long as the person(s) doing it has lots of experience rolling fenders.

try to go with a smaller tire like 225 or even a 215 if you dont want to roll the fenders.
