What??? a Honda break without some stupid input by the driver i.e. over-revving...driving with the temp higher than normal etc etc. If the guy says his block cracked maybe..just maybe, it might not be his fault. Everybody decided he drove it overheated and there you go!! For such a great brand I find there are pages and pages and pages of problems posted on this site alone. I too own an 06 Civic and find it NOT to be mans "gift from God" in an automotive sense.

Dude, you're too young to really know from experience how reliable Hondas are. When I was your age, I had the unfortunate/fortunate opportunity to own a 1980 Honda Civic Station Wagon. Reason why I say unfortunate/fortunate is because hell, that definitely wasn't a babe magnet by no means. Fortunate because that car lasted me a looooooong time and definitely saved me on maintenance. I had 300k+ miles on that car and it never gave me any problems...never broke down, never had anything wrong where something just broke on it's own. I've had road debris crack the radiator and that's about it. That car lasted me until 1997. The piston actually shot OUT of the engine block and left a big giant hole. I didn't complain about it because I was more sad than anything. That car served it's purpose for a long time without any hassles.

Bottom Line is:
Take care of your Honda, and your Honda will take care of you.

disclaimer: This was not meant to flame you in anyway.

Except that he saw that at idle it was already overheating and decided that taking it out for a drive would solve the overheating issue... riiiight

LOL, reminds me of my 1986 carburated accord.
Ran it until 220K miles until I got my new civic.....only thing I had to do was replace the carb, radiator and hook up a light switch to the rad fan since it wouldn't turn on.

maybe there's an issue that they don't know about yet....once they figure it out i'm sure they'll have a recall....sucks to hear that tho...

i'm not gonna say that the civic was the best car ever built....but just going by everyone i know that drives a TC (2 girls & 2 guys) they would rather have gotten a civic....but they would be in the negative if they trade to a civic now so they're stuck....

every car company has their defects....Honda is no exception....but Honda does have the least amount of problems that I know of....

maybe the maintenance dept at your dealership is full of pomeranians with bolts in their mouths and don't know what their doing so they keep f'ing of the cars.

I know a woman that works in the maint. dept at my local honda dealer and I asked her about that just a couple of minutes ago.. She says she hasn't seen a single one come in for that since around 04 (with exception of kids that think their 130hp car is really 50000hp).

IDK man.. if you're so unhappy about it and Honda sucks so bad then why do you keep posting here.. shouldn't you be calling in some overtime so you can have enough money to get a different car without going upside down on your civic? I'm not trying to flame you or anything here man, I just don't understand why you keep posting here just to ruffle peoples feathers.

You don't like your car for obvious reasons. Ok. The people here love theirs. Ok. Move on and forget about it.
But I will say this.. think about the fact that honda probably sold over 1,000,000 cars in us and canada alone in 2006.. not every single one of them will be perfect. You might have just got a bad apple.

How dare you insult me like that
JK yeah I understand, This is my first honda and I am not impressed with quality at all. However I have been inside Tcs and they are no better. My family is a nissan family and we have a 1994 nissan quest and a 2001 Frontier and I would have to say that the quality of materials are way better. Paint, all metal work and interior. Maybe we go a nissan before it got really bad but so far our nissans are true pieces of workmanship
