I'm assuming you're issuing valid commands and none of them work. In that case, I think it's something like the microphone not being plugged into the head unit properly so the car can't hear you. Essentially you're pushing the button and the car is waiting for your response but since it never hears you it beeps.

I had this problem last weekend. For about 3 days, I would press the voice button, the system would mute the speakers, generate the slight audible beep (normal) and wait for my command. No matter what I said, it always came back as "Pardon", "Please Repeat", or "Could you say again". It was actually kinda funny for a while as I started yelling profanity at the unit. You know, "Listen B*T*H, I said go HOME!!" Haha.. But yesterday, when I went to drop it off at the dealer for that and a couple other items, it started working again.....Strange...

Mine did that and it has stopped again. Really Pissing me off. I told the Dealer they git 4 days to fix it and they have seen what its doing. I did tell them to call me if they have to removed the unit from the dash. If this is done my dealer is going to cut me a deal to get the Ipod kit installed since the dash is apart.

Thought I posted on this thread, but I guess not. Mine was intermittently working and finally hasn't worked for a long time. Not really wanting to drop it off to a dealer that already knows nothing about these units, I bit the bullet today and gave it up. Just got a call saying they ordered a new microphone and will have to see if that works or go from there. I have a feeling it could be the microphone...perhaps they're cheap receivers that blow with any moderate level of radio when you click the button? Don't know, just want it fixed...and has anyone done the iPod Music Link and is happy with it?

So I get the car back and dealer has ordered the microphone after reinstalling the software for the Navi (not sure it that is accurate, but the BS that the service advisor passed on). The disconnected and reconnected the microphone and it still wouldn't work. Of course I leave with my car and decide to try and it now works...but for how long. What I noticed is that the beep after pushing the voice button is a higher pitch than before. And I'm no longer getting the repeating of the command I request despite having voice recognition feedback turned on. Strange - thinking it's a poltergeist.

Mine is still dead. I am not to worried about it. I will take it to Honda one of these years. Everything else works. Just HATE going to a dealer for any repairs. I got the itch to get a truck angain. So I may just trade this in on a Range Rover SE here shortly.

2006 Honda Civic Navigation Voice Command
Hi Folks:
I am so glad I found this forum. I am having the same problem with my navigation system on my 2006 Honda Civic. The "voice recognition" fails to recognize my voice. It is an intermittent problem (i.e. it will work for a day or two then not work for a day or two). It is quite random of when it works and when it does not, but when it doesn't work, it is usually for the entire day... then randomly, the next day, it will start working again. On the days when it is not working, I will push the button, it will beep and turn the audio down just like normal, but then no matter what voice command I say, it will say "Repeat," "Pardon," "Please Say Again" or nothing at all. I have now been back to the Honda dealer four times and I am more frustrated than ever. The first time they replaced the microphone and it worked when I left the dealer. But a while after that when I tested it, it didn't work again. So I brought it back a second time and they replaced the MAIN computer that runs the navigation system and it worked when I left the dealer. But a while after that when I tested it, it didn't work again. I brought it back a third time and they rebooted the system and told me that the problem might have been caused by them "not rebooting it the last time when they replaced the computer". When I left it was working. But then a while after that I tested it again and SAME THING. I brought it back a fourth time today and called Honda Corporate to lodge a complaint. I was told by my dealer that the Honda Tech line (the dealer called Honda Corporate's tech line) told them that there are Civics now being reported across the country with this same problem and they believe that it is pertaining to the microphone. They are working on a modified microphone that has no release date yet but have put in the order for it. But, my question is, even if it is a problem with some of these microphones, why wouldn't have it fixed the problem when they originally replaced the microphone? The problem obviously isnt in ALL of these microphones or Honda's across the country would ALL be reporting it -- so what are the chances that they gave me two of these defective microphones in a row? I am looking to get in touch with people who are having this same problem to figure what to do next. Please email me at scotte100@aol.com...! THANKS! --Scott |

I'm also having the same problem. What I have done to correct it is either turn car completely off then on (navi software reboots) or if I'm driving or not wanting to turn car off I eject Navi DVD then reinsert (navi software reboots) and Voice button works again. I doubt the mics are bad in my case rebooting The Navi software by either PO/PO or eject/reinstall DVD seems to do the trick. I'm still waiting to find the solution online before I take to dealer. I'm hopping this is a software issue with the navigation system and possibly a new release of software might fix problem. Maybe have voice command boot instructions load at different time sonner or later in batch file. But then again I'm not a software engineer so I'm only guessing. If anyone finds out anymore on this let me know as well. markjackson@zoomtown.com

I just bought a 06 civic si with Navi last weekend. For the whole week I have been able to get the Navi to respond to my commands a total of two days. Has anyone found out any new information on this subject. I feel like I am getting ripped here. Will go see the dealer this weekend but it would be cool if anyone has found a definite fix for this. If I don't get this fixed soon I will be forced to get a girlfriend who will type all the Navigation input that I spout out after I press the button. I have a feeling that will only work for a couple of days too. Thanks for help guys.

Also, you may want to check the manual but I think there's a way to turn the mic off... maybe it's just turned off. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Keep searching the forums. I think you'll find that you may need to have the Mic replaced. |

I've had my microphone replaced as well.
It worked perfectly for about a week after they replaced it and it went back to not working. I'd take my car in again, but they'd probably just deny me service saying that my turbo kit somehow messed up the voice recognition.
