weird sound?!?!

To the point, I was slowing down at a light to make a left turn thinking I was going to stop so i put the car in neutral and brake. Once I reach the light, the coast was clear to turn but I was going about 7km/h so I just put it into first. Anyways, when it put it into first I heard this weird sound, do you think its possibility of grinding gears? I heard it more from the stick sounded like it came from under it....any input appriciated.

Thanks

I also do feel a kind of light grinding, but as far as I'm concerned it's not something to worry about really. The gear box is made of metal; it's gonna make some noise from time to time.

Also, I use the km/h as well. I wonder why we Americans haven't gone exclusively metric; it was supposed to happen like 3 decades ago.
