It probably was a little low when you did the job.
You took the line off that was in the way to do the CAI......
when you do this you create an air bubble in the system...you introduced air into the system...
You filled it to the fill line ...
Next you should have ran the car for a while with the heat all the way to the hot position.. this opens the coolent system up so the air can circulate through the system to the overflow bottle if you didnt do this the air might have gotten trapped by the thermostat on your engine causing the temp to go up...when it opened the temp went down and air passed through.
the burning smell if there was no steam might have been the rubber hoses getting hot.....no biggy kind of normal....
the coolent cooled down and was low because air bubble passed through and into resevoir if you added coolent run car let it reach operating temp check for steam or leaks
then 2 morrow check again for any leaks and see if the coolent is low...
