By $280 mortgage you mean: to rent your mom's basement then yes. that is a lot of money, just like you're making a mortgage payment.

I hear ya man. I blew an Eagle RS-A and the dealers were asking for $230 CDN for the tire w/ installation and balancing.

IMO. If you blow one, consider changing all four. For the price of the replacement, you could have technically bought two (or three) good tires.

This morning a went to sears, firestone, discount tire, and tires plus is search of a replacement. Costco finally fufilled my request and handed me a bill for $280 BUCKS!!! I was shocked. Be forewarned the Michelin Pilot MX4's that come standard on the civic SI ARE the most exprensive series of tires available for passenger car use. I actually found out it was 60 dollars cheaper if I were to buy 20" Eagle F1's!!

Long story short...be aware of the road hazards (which really goes without saying) unless you wish to seriously lighten your wallet

YEah I've been reading reviews @ Tirerack.com...apparently the treadlife sucks!! I'm biting the bullet on this one and am investing a set for summer driving. I dont mind the stock's traction in winter driving, I was actually surprised that it handled better than my roommates 04 Pilot. The MT is a big advantage in slippery conditions.

+2 i ******* hate those oem michelins with a passion and would NEVER spend money on one or a set. ESPECIALLY $280! i thought this thread was a joke and figured at that price the OP got rammed in the ass, but i searched on the net and they are indeed $200+ LOL.

Wow. I paid $200 for 245/45/18 Continental Sport Contact 2 - tire on the M5 and some Porsches. As far as speed rating - they were 178+ I believe.
