Hood accident

I was driving in the expressway at 4:00 am, and a construction sign flew and hit my car and scratch everything in my car from the HFP spoiler kit to my hood to my side mirror. Everything is minor and can be repainted by touch up paint and I can live wiht it, but the hood has a big gash and cant be fix. So I decided to replace it with a carbon fiber hood.

Anybody here know how to install a carbon fiber hood? Is it easy? Help would be greatly appreciated? I heard I need to drill holes for a hood pin?

I have a 06 SI

Thanks

One more thing, does anybody know if that will void any warranty since it is not OEM hood?

yes, the dealer will never work on your car again because the carbon fiber hood effects every aspect of your car and they will be able to link any malfunction to a bolt on replacement hood.

Nighthawksi, is that necessary? They guy has 2 posts! Cut it out you're being obnoxious.

OP, no it will not void your warranty. Click on my signature for a link to the answer.

^^haha. The hood is held on by 4 bolts. It is very easy to put put on and take back off if needed. I put a carbon fiber hood, trunk and spoiler on my FG2 and the only thing i couldn't do was install the spoiler.

Where did the sign come from. In some states, you can peruse the local government for damages to your car for something like this. Same goes for pot hole damage to your car.

Yup construction sign, I live in Tri-state Area (NY/NJ), it happen on NJTPK. I tried asking NJTPK to pay for it, but since NJ is a no fault state and I have to tell them who my insurance is, I dont want my insurance to go up, just because of simple scratches that I can live with. I have no witness or proof that it was thier sign also. It is kinda illegal to pick up a sign. IN addition, with my deductibe, the insurance will probably end up paying around $0 to 500 max. I didnt get estimate. Plus, they will replace it with OEM hood. The way I was thinking is that if I am going to end up paying to replace this cuz of my deductible might as well buy Carbon FIber Hood and use touch up paint on the rest.

Thank you guys for the prompt response, the ppl here are pretty cool. I will probably end up doing the change this summer.

Anybody here installed MG-style carbon fiber hood from Seibon, I would like to see pics of it, of how it will look like.

Thanks!

Good, at least you explored the State covering the damage.

I live in NY and know people have gotten pot hole damage covered and things of that nature.

Quick off subject question but what does a CF hood weigh vs the stock hood?
