Coolant Explosion... (Just installed CAI....) helllllp
ok so its 1 in the morning today and I just got off work... what a better time to goto the local underground parking garage and install my new cai... okok long story short I install it and its now 5am, i drive for a bit, park in my usuall spot outside my appt and there is coolant everywhere, i cant even tell where its coming from... shit shit... so I dont have picture currently but there is 2 hoses, one from the cai to head? and one from head to intake manifold? i dunno but there are 2 hoses, the one that "usually" drool's fluid upon the cai install did so, is that what it could be? its just a generic CAI.... do you think the hoses or clamps are shitty, anyone experience this??? and does anyone know if it is bad to turn the car on with nada coolant and how long is it bad to do for... anyway its too ******* early, i love these forum's and thanks ahead of time to anyone who has an input

well let me start by saying I dont know why your car is leaking coolant .. i would double check your install
but let me say .. starting your car and running it with no coolant = BAD IDEA ... you dont want the car overheating ,.... i would recommend that you not move the car until you fix the problem and replace the coolant what brand intake is this ? did it come with instructions ? |

Its HPS cai, the install looks fine, it is now light outside so I will double check... just a ******* pain in my ass since i need to get to work in like an hour.... the intake is actually nice quality compared to other cai's that I have bought before and I have installed quite a few but never has this happened... anyway im off to check it.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HPS-0...QQcmdZViewItem

alright, now that there was daylight I was able to fix it... i feel like an idiot but i'm sure other people had this problem, the coolant line (there is one for air (the larger one)) wasn't connected well because there is a large (2 inch diameter) tube going from the radiator to the block that is in the way of any hose clampage possible... I bent a screwdriver and somehow managed to tighten it enough... ill post a pic in case anyone runs into this problem in the future because it stumped me and I am fairly decent backyard mechanic...anyway thanks for the responses im waitin on a catback, which should be a little more fun to install....
