so can anyone confirm that all k series valve covers are the same and that a DC5 valve cover will fit a k20z3?

Bump for some feedback...

HONDA JAPAN TYPE-R VALVE COVER: RSX-S 02-UP / CIVIC SI 02-UP (UNPAINTED) at RobearRacing.com

And here is what they say..."Note: Also fits Civic Si 02-UP with minor modification. Made in Japan (Honda)" and "NOTE: WILL FIT CIVIC SI 02-UP, BUT NEED TO CHANGE 2 NUTS ON THE PLUG WIRE COVER."

lol.... from the looks of it, id say you can try and have a socket holding down the top end of the bolt and then get a wrench or something to try and get it to turn

but thats just my hypothesis

you pop off the 3 small little holders that look like and small plastic black nail. there is one in the middle and one on each side. after you take those out, you just lift up and it should pop out of the holes its secured in.

I haven't seen a JDM cover up close personally for the K20. What 'holes' are you referring to on the right side of the valve cover are missing? If someone has a comparison photo, that would be nice to see.

if you look at you stock valve cover on the right hand side, you will see a bracket attached to the valve cover by two bolt. Those holes that the two bolt go into are not there on the JDM one. its really no big deal. you can zip tie it somewhere or just let it hang. Mine is just hanging in the same place w/ no issues.

ahh...yes, i see what you are talking about now. Thanks!

You think it would be possible to drill and tap the screw holes on the JDM valve cover without damaging the valve cover? I mean, with the right tools that is...the place i work has a full machine shop, so i am just thinking....maybe....???

Anyone know how much the USDM valve cover is from Honda? I know JDM parts are cooler, but why not just get a USDM one with all the proper holes and paint it red lol? It may even be cheaper (unlikely I know)

I may go this route in the near future once my nitrous setup is finished. Just exploring some options. Besides maybe I will go original and powdercoat it fiji!!!!!

just find someone that installed a jdm one and ask to buy their old one. Excalibur painted a usdm cover to look like jdm and it came out really good. contact him if you have any questions.

Good idea. Since I am lazy as hell I will just ask here.....any of you JDMers wanna sell me your USDM cover? Way better than buying it from Honda and I suppose it will help someone else make a quick buck.

I know that the JDM people (myself included) are pretty serious about getting JDM parts (even though I HAD TO HAVE THE COUPE ) , but in this case I can't justify getting the actual JDM red one just to have it powdercoated fiji possibly. Please send me a PM with a price for the USDM cover and if you can show me a picture of it as well. You can also post it here if you want.

thanks!

Now that i look at it, I don't think drilling/tapping the JDM cover is a good idea. The USDM cover actually has extra material on the cover specifically for the screws, the JDM (obviously) does not. Drilling/Tapping on the JDM cover would essentially put a hole in the cover itself.

The next best option is to either:
1) buy the JDM one anyway and jsut say screw the bracket
2) buy a USDM and paint/powercoat it

Since i don't have the patience that Excalibur does, and unless he is willing to take payment for doing the work, going with the JDM cover is the only option.
