The CEL will clear once the cap is reinstalled correctly and given a couple of days, no need to visit the service dept.

the dash lite will go off but in will still be stored on your ecu as a history code. meaning next time someone hooks up a scanner to your car they will see that you had a small evap leak b4 even tho you dont have a check engine lite. i personally dont like any kind of cel on my car, history or present but some ppl aren't as anal as i am.
