Loud Thunk and Drop on launch

last night at the race track I launched it during a race with an eclipse. I heard a loud clunk and drop as if the motor had been lifted off the mounts and dropped again, I have lifted the car and inspected all the mounts and they appear to be fine... Does anyone else recall experiencing this? Because it sounded and felt like I ripped out a half shaft. This has happend a total of 3 times now and it only happens when I have the VSA off during drag races at the strip.

Im hoping this is normal because of the twisting nature of a motor torquing out.

i just posted this on another thread we looked for this at our shop cause mine did it right after i put my header on and thought somthing wasnt tight, looked forever... finally figured out it was coming from the strut/spring, dont know if its bottoming out or the spring is just popping , but that was where it was coming from, basically the front end is lifting so much the strut is expanding as far as it can.

Mine started after Comptech header install, dealer is going to replace the motor mount. I'll chime in if it helps.

I told them it happens when I accelerate over bumpy roads or railroad tracks.

nothings gonna fix it until you get some kind of better mounts or a torque dampener, the motor just flexs to much which makes everthing else flex

I agree. Mine will do it if you launch real hard or hit 2cd hard. Sounds like a bang and its coming from the passenger side floor. Right where you put your feet. There is a motor mount there, but I have inspected it and it looks good. I bet It has a tear in the rubber. Just trying to decide how to tell the dealer,.... When I drop the clutch at 3 to 5 it makes a bad sound . There going to say... NO S@@T. Were not going to cover that.

Yea i just remembered it did it on a pot hole once (front right tire hit it), and i launched it over a kinda bumpy road the first time it did it so i'm guessing suspension?

Also has it happened to anyone w/o wheel hop? Seems on smooth burnouts all is good.

Deff same problem, front right of the car. I mean i snapped my diff on my Trans Am on a hard launch once and i think this noise from the Si was louder lol.

This is BS. Thank goodness i bought the 8 year warranty. So i'll let it pop all it wants, if it breaks, stealer is gonna have to replace it.
