This is not unique to the Civic. Over many years and through many cars, I can tell you with certaintly that the only way to avoid being shocked is to hold with your hand or put your finger on a piece of metal as you are sliding out of the car. You're rubbing electrical dielectrics (insulators) against each other when you slide your but against the seat fiber - neither is grounded, and this can generate a hell of a charge, just waiting to find a ground somewhere.


Simply open your door, and make sure your hand is contacting a part of the metal on the window frame, door jamb, or any other metal part of the car while you are sliding out - problem solved.
