You can get it at wally world for a few dollars. Just spray it on every once and while. I had this problem in my accord and i was told to use that and it worked.

size of a dime is probally about 10,000 volts

electricity can usually jump about 1cm per 10,000 volts

I have gotten a little more static, like stuff clinging to the car since I put on the wax, but I've only gotten shocked once. I still always freak out and keep one hand on the car at all times when filling up.

Static Shock Problems (merged)

I have an EX Civic Coupe. Has anyone ever wonder why they always get shock when they come out of their civic? The seats are made of microfiber material. I'm not sure if the SI's and Sedans are the same.

I have an Si and i ALWAYS get shocked on the way out. I've started to touch the very top of the door with my arm since the shock doesnt hurt there. This also happened with my old car witch was a 92 Accord

Aside from that, I wonder how long these seats are going to last, considering almost every Si I've seen, and some EX's have quite a bit of wear on them, from less than normal use.

I'm also worried about this. Its funny because in my bros 92 integra GSR the seats look really good. They are in excellent condition.

I'm pretty worried also, my 96 accord's fabric was much more durable and still looks quite new for being a 11 year old car. The civic on the other hand.. wear on the center console and drives door armrest, some on the drivers seat, doesn't make me feel confident about the car lasting long.

if any of you guys are into free things like i am...

just hold the metal part of the key and as you get out, touch it to the metal part of the outside of your door. all the static will get discharged...

this definitely works and just becomes a habit like anything else you do so you won't be annoyed by it after a day or two.

i really dont like going through the hassle of buying new bottles of stuff and having to worry about when i'm going to have to spray more so i dont get shocked lol.

I just close the doors with my elbow. Never got hit since. I would go crazy buying new bottles and spraying shit all over my car for every little inconvenience.

This doesn't have anything to do with cars, but I have this blanket that can build up insane amounts of static. That and as a person I can build quite a bit of static. I can seriously have sparks flying when I rub my arm across it that it will ever so slightly illuminate a dark room. I've gotten sparks almost 6 inches long jumping from my finger to the thing. They don't look much like lightning style sparks but more like a fuzzy mulitpronged flower of static erupting from my finger, also you can't see the spark beyond about half way but it is grounding. It's crazy stuff. SCIENCE!!

I wish I could take a picture but I don't think I have a camera nearly sensitive enough. Maybe at ISO 800 with time lapse. Heh.

another solution is to touch the frame of the car while you are stepping out of the car.

I've started getting shocked again. Hooray for cold, dry air! Time to spray down the car.

If some of you dont like to spray stuff inside your car - try using some used dryer sheets (non-scented if you prefer), and rub them on your seats. Also - the key trick mentioned here works, only I suggest to touch it on the door striker (iz grounded!) and not on the painted surfaces - you dont want to key your own car!
