"Clutch" Squeak problem found..

For all of those complaining about a "clutch" squeak when within 50%- 75% of engagement on the clutch i think i found the problem. I took it over to my local honda dealership to ask about it and after they gave me shit about my intake (immaturely might i add) I just left and decided to figure it out myself.

For those who dont know what im talking about i have a video of the "squeak" in action. You can hear it when your engaging the clutch and not giving it gas. Like at a drivethrough window or pulling out of a parking lot.

Here is the problem in action: (the crushed up papertowel was indeed picked up during the making of this movie.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11lUvQ-XRro

If you notice its the exhaust/cat assy thats moving up and down before the clutch engages which brings on the squeak.

So noticing this i got under the car to the cat/header connection and tried moving it around. And behold.. a killer squeak. Its not the rubber thats squeaking its the actual connection from the headers to the cat.

Closeup of the header/cat squeak:

I just wanted to get some 2nd opinions. Im pretty sure it shouldnt be THAT squeaky. Now i think im just gonna bring the video i took, to the honda service dept where i bought my car. (not where i went today) Show them what it is and see if they can fix the gasket or oil it up or something...

Hopefully this can shed some light on the problem. Considering i know a few people on these forums dealing with it.

My car does a weird squealing noise like a car siren slowly turning off or going farther away when I downshift, that's all I ever notice.

Don't worry about it... Mine has the same noise and I really wouldn't get bent out of shape over it. That squeak sounds very different from the clutch squeak.

Use something like lithium grease, the WD40 will wear away quick.

oh man.. finally. i brought up this topic a long time ago and couldn't figure out what it was... when i took it to the dealership they told me it was my timing belt and was ok (even though it was loud and VERY annoying). THey wouldn't fix it.

can u keep us updated on how the dealer fixes it? i wanna get mine fixed. It's sooooooooooooooo annoying. makes my car sound like its 10 yrs old already.

oh on a side note.

i think it may just have to do w/ any sort of vibration through the transmission.

if you just park your car and blip the throttle very lightly (very , very lightly--like 100rpm) you can get a similar sound.. just not as loud

Well, i went to holman honda told them the prob. Everythings good no more squeak. Pretty much just tell them to move ur cat around while its on the lift should be self explanitory from that point. Happy Holman Honda customer...

Yeah problem is fixed... Its the "a" pipe to cat connection thats making the squeak. Just tell them to move around your cat while its on the lift it should reproduce the sound then they'll know what to do with it. I also got my mtf fluid changed while i was there cause i heard alot of people complaining about it. Didnt notice it that day but man today shifting is so much smoother with the new mtf fluid. I didnt think it was such a big deal but its noticably smoother shifting. Id get that changed too while ur there..
