Pothole - Ouch

I saw the pothole at the last second coming over a rise, and couldn't get around it in time. I caught my right-front wheel. When I finally got out to look at it, I saw that the sidewall of the tire (21540Z18) had a bulge in it. I brought it to the dealer, and they replaced the rubber. Driving home I noticed that when I apply the throttle it pulls to the right. When I'm coasting though, it tracks along fine.

I'll have it bring it in again (obviously) to have this corrected, but can anyone guess (in the meantime) why it pulls right when I give it gas?

Thanks.

But if it was simply misaligned, wouldn't the car pull to the right all of the time whether I'm giving it gas or not?

So, what will correct the torque steer -- the alignment?

In my city, you can pursue compensation from the city for damages caused by improper road maintenance no matter what time of year. They will pay for the damages and alignment.

1. When you get on the car like floor it does the wheel want to come out of your hands and steer itself to one side.

2.or does it gradually go to the right?

1. Is normal

2. Is not it needs an alignment.

You may have just knocked the alignment out of spec. UNless the rim was damaged as well.

I don't think Torque steer is correctable by an alignment :) Most FWD vehicles have torque steer, unless you have a LSD. My Old 97 GST spyder had crazy torque steer when all 300HP is applied to the front in 1st -> 3rd gear.

You car would have torque steer before and after the pothole.

There are other parts you can damage in the front end other than tires and rims. There are all sorts of parts that can get slightly bent and cause pulling to one side or another.

The only odd issue is that it only does it when you apply gas which normally points to torque steer but again you would have it before and after.

Was there much difference in tread between the new tire and one that got damaged? How many miles on the car/tire that got replaced??

If he hit the right side and then you put a new tire on right side it wouldn't cause a pull to the right.........?

The rim was not damaged. I'll switch the front and back tires. If the problem goes away, I'll have to buy another new tire for the other side. Otherwise, if it still pulls to the right when I hit the gas, then something else is wrong (alignment, or whatever).

Since there are many of you who also have an Si... Does your's pull to the right only when you hit the gas?
