Recalls, TSB's, and Common problems with the 8thgen civic...

Here are some links to common problems associated with the 8thgen civics. If you would like to add something (a recall, TSB or general problem) please post it AND PM me and I will add it to the list. This list is only for problems that seem to be common and just because it does not show here, does not mean there is not a thread about it. So please search if you can't find what you are looking for. If you still do can not find your problem, start a thread, thanks! :)

Common Problems
Rattle from the rear. Cliff notes: a clip was not installed properly or some wires where loose.

Your power somehow gets reset, and the Navigation asks you for a pin and you don't know what to do or it automatically goes blank.

Rough idle problems, no solution yet

Starting Issue /Ignition issue/ - Merged threads Car takes a few seconds of cranking before starting, let the key set in the "on" position for a second or two helps.

A/C condensor protection, a few people have had problems and it costs $700 for the dealer to fix, this costs $10 and an hours of time, see second page

There is an engine ticking at idle, I've been told by about five Honda techs that it is the fuel injectors.

Also, if you don't see what you are looking for, there is another DIY index in the Tech stuff and DIY section, CLICK HERE
Finally, there is also a DIY index for I.C.E. and electrical, so if you don't see what you're looking for here, CLICK HERE

Drivers side door not lining up correctly.
Whenever I look at my drivers side rear view mirrors I notice it and it bothers me. Will be taking it in soon to get fixed.

Be careful about the metal panel. Went to get a new Alarm system put in yesterday and without my knowledge the installation guy was hitting the top metal panel right above the drivers side window and it placed a nice dent there.
I know it wasnt there when I took it in since It is eye level everytime I get into the car.
That pissed me off. Talked to manager already and have to take car in so they can see it.
I wouldnt of said anything if that part wasnt so clean when I was going into my vehicle this morning since my car is fairly dirty and that part was the only spot clean.

LED Lights on the Vent Selection buttons all turn off at random. Problem is only solved by hitting the buttons. Though this is a temporary fix cause they go off on the next bump in the road. This is not the only one this dealer has seen and I others on the board have experienced it as well I believe.

i used to go to alldata for TSB's but now they charge a fee this is a substitute i found linked to a .gov url. just search for your car and the known tsb's will come up.

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov

Currently has 7 TSB's for an 06 civic.
TSB's have helped me out with my chrysler 300m special that was filled with problems. I went to the dealer with a list of the TSB numbers and they knew exactly what to fix, and that is was indeed covered by chrysler.

Damnit why cant there be quality control in Canada? Honda should of had the new Civic built in Japan where there is quality control. Either way i Love Hondas and my car so its all good.

So does this mean all the civics are effected by these defects, only certain models or what?
