Warranty?

hey about to buy a new civic o6 lx. Just need some opinions. Do i need the extended warranty with up to 160000K, and the vital rust protection? All this comes to and extra 1600 with tax, just curious if this is overpriced and worth it. Thanks

I have bought 5 brand new cars in my lifetime (current civic si being the 5th one), and I have never bought an extended warranty or rust proofing). Waste of cash IMO, especially w/ a Honda. Just my two cents. Good luck w/ ur civic.

See if your insurance company offers mechanical breakdown insurance. I pay only 15 bucks every 6 for mine and its good to 100,000 miles.

Well, when the dealer asked me if I wanted an extended warranty, I told them if I wanted to buy an extended warranty, I would have bought a Ford. He luaghed and said true.

Point is, why did you buy a Honda? I bought it because I think it will last long time, if I think that it will last a long time, when pay for the warranty?

Cup holders have hot air come through them when the heat is on.

This one is documented--with a fix--elsewhere on this forum. :)

We're having this problem on our driver-side visor. It pops open at the gap around the center section, on the left hinge, when you try to put it back up. Hope that description makes some sense...

There is a possible TSB involving the front and side motor mounts. My LX was put into the shop yesterday to fix a problem where the mounts break under pressure. The symptoms are a hard crashing sound whenever you run over a pothole, or a thumping noise when driving slowly over a bump.

The dealership told me it is a known problem with the Civic coupes and they have seen nearly 10 so far come in with the same problem. I have exactly 7002 miles on my LX now.

Any one with that "tin-can" sound problem on the right front side?Is it true that it's because of a bad motor mount design?

well.. too bad.. maybe we DO need extended warranty with all these problems..

i bought my honda because my '99 civic never had a single trouble for 5 years.

i understand that it's the first year of 8th civic..

but SERIOUSLY...

1. Engine Oil Leak
2. Broken Rear Shocks
3. Bad Engine Mount
4. Bad Idel
5. Unfit interior dashboard
6. Plastic clicking noise everywhere after 15,000km
7. CD Players buttons get stuck everytime pressed
8. to be continued..

these r the problems i have so far.. and only a few of them r repaired.

maybe we DO need extra warranty now...

anyone experiencing rattle/squeak on rear when driving 10mph or less?
dealer say something is rubbing the shock so they replaced both shocks and to my dismay didn't solve the problem.

anyone experiencing the same?

Just had it fixed on mine...it was the C-pillar. They put some foam tape and replaced the clips (and lubed the clips, too, since they squeaked).

so i took apart the dash board in my 06 civic to run the rca and remote turn on wire and after i got the wires for the impedence adapter connect it started to smoke, then my cousin told me that i didn't need to open the dash up to do that i could just run the lines from the speakers in the back to the adapter. Needless to say i still cut the wires behind the cd player, and i put them back together but it doesn't turn on and the alarm doesn't work anymore along with the power locks?!

YES> I get this all the time when I'm in bumper to bumper traffic and I tap on the gas, it's annoying.

Does anyone one think that might be the same problem that the Si's had. I think it is in both the Si and the EX. Heck the LX has the same engine, So problem might be in all Civics.... Let me know who else has this problem....
