3rd Recall 3/06

Hi I saw a recall not listed here. Apparently it's been out since early 3/06 but I stumbled across it and I posted link.

2006 Honda Civic Recalls

2006 HONDA CIVIC EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Recall Date:
MAR 13, 2006

Summary:
CERTAIN ANZO COMBINATION HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES SOLD AS REPLACEMENT LAMPS FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES. SOME COMBINATION LAMPS ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS WHICH FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.”

Consequence:
WITHOUT THE AMBER REFLECTORS, THE VEHICLE WILL BE POORLY ILLUMINATED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy:
ANZO WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE HEADLAMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ANZO USA AT 909-468-3688.

Potential Units Affected:
97000

Notes:
ANZO USA, INC.

FYI, members of Greenhybrid report that the bug in the odometer that resets the MPG readout every 62-63 miles (100km), seems to have a cure. It is reported that an odometer conponent needs to be replaced.

I am not sure if there is a TSB or not, but if you are a 2006 HYBRID owner, you may be interested in this fix.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some people go through great lengths to take OUT their amber reflectors: Clear head lights on a happy red si

If you have clear corners, consider yourself lucky. If you want to fix them, see if someone here wants to swap their's with your's.

All of these TSB's and Recalls...

Since my new SI won't arrive until sometime in June... shall I assume (yes, I know what happens when you assume) that all of these new design/production "bugs" would have been addressed by the factory and dealerships by now? If not are they stubborn, in denial, or something else?

Who recently took delivery of their SI's and are still seeing these problems? Which one(s) specifically?

I don't want to take delivery of a car with lots of problems...

Thanks for looking.

Taking mine in tommorrow for the first oil change, my short list of issues:
Dots inside the paint (fish eyes) Was there dust in the paint booth?
Car clicks when idling after warm
Driver's seat fabric doesn't wrap down around bottom of seat (other seat does).
Driver's seat wearing out already.
Glare in CD/Radio window from sunroof (Drives me crazy!)
Cup holders have hot air come through them when the heat is on.
Door plastic scratches too easily.
Car is sluggish in first gear
Gas cap holder doesn't hold very well.(knocks off way too easily!)

Still pretty happy with the car. Hopefully the dealership has the Fit, I'm interested to see what that car is like.

I just took delivery of my new SI w/navi today, and I noticed an odd problem... the "auto" setting for the day/night illumination does not work on the navi. Even at night, it stays in Day mode (way too bright)! I have to manually set it to night mode in order to get it to dim out (and the navi colors are supposed to reverse, too, so the map is black instead of tan). Anyone else have this issue? The car is brand new!

Ok, so, I fixed my problem... just so everyone knows, I'm an idiot. The navi will stay in Day mode if the dimmer setting is turned all the way up. Back it off one notch, and day/night mode will work correctly.

First post, decided to skip the intro thread for now.

So I just brough in my '06 DX Coupe for the oil leak problem. I am apparently the first person that my dealer had to deal with for this problem and they actually gave me difficulties over the phone when I told them other people have seen it.

Regardless, they call me up and tell my I have not one, but TWO sealing bolts that are bad. If that wasn't bad enough, they can't get the parts in until Monday and told highly suggested I don't drive the car.

Oh well, they said they would give me a rental, an '06 Impala from the nearby Enterprise. I figured, "What the hell, just have some fun with a beast for the weekend." Get to Enterprise and they won't rent to me because I'm under 21. NOW I have to call up my parents and ask for a favor. My mom rents the car in her name, they give her a damned Hyundai Sante Fe. This is quite possibly the stupid car I have ever seen/driven.

Kinda upset, overall I'm satisfied with the dealer, I know they're doing the best they can. However, Enterprise is pissing me off, so is Hyundai and I'm kinda ticked at Honda for selling all these new civics with such a serious problem (drained all the oil from the civic by 1200 miles).

Eh sorry for all the writing, just kinda had to vent.

Pixiedotcom, I have the same issue with my drivers side visor. In fact, I can't even fold it back up against the headliner. What's happening is, the part of the visor that is supposed to pivot is totally stuck. So when I move it, it just breaks the visor. New one on order under warranty; should be here monday. Hope the new one doesn't have the same problem.

A/C Service Bulletin

My A/C just quit working. Fans blow but it doesn't get cold, which sucks because it is hot here. At the dealership they said everything tested fine but agreed there is no cold (like I needed confirmation.) They said there was a Service Bulletin and scheduled another appointment- guess I'll sweat it out until then.

I did a search for others and noticed there were some complaints but no one mentioned this bulletin so I thought I'd drop a line so others can get it fixed under warranty.
