List of transmission fluids and their viscosities
Lower numbers = thinner fluid = better shifting when cold = worse protection when really hot
RP Synchromax (syn) = 7.7 Torco MTF (syn) 8.35 GM Synchromesh/BG Synchroshift (dino) = 9.1 SF Synchroglide (syn) = 9.5 Amsoil MTF (syn) = 9.6 Neo MTF (syn) = 10.0 RL MTL (syn) = 10.6 Honda MTF (dino) =11.26 SF MTL-P (syn) = 11.5 Torco RTF (syn) = 14.33 SF MTL-R (syn) = 14.7 Motul Gear 300 (syn) = 15.2 Mobil (syn) = 15.2 RL MT-90 (syn) = 15.6 I got this info from ephatch.... Is this information right?? For instance If I would to change my trans oil to amsoil .... Will I have real bad protection when really hot?? need confirmation.

viscosity has little to do with high temperature protection in modern lubricants. Remember most Hondas now run 5w-20 motor oil and I don't hear about a bunch of them blowing up. Viscosity will have an effect on how your shifter feels, however. but I wouldn't worry about protection, especially when using a synthetic.
