Right brake light not working only when headlights are off

Hey guys, I ran into an interesting problem with my civic. My passenger taillight does not turn on when I press the brake, but works when my headlights are on. Any ideas what it could be? I recently installed a trailer light wiring kit, but it only tapped into existing wires..

what wires did you tap into exactly? and did you splice anything?

No splicing, it's a universal trailer wiring kit that you can pick up at uHaul. It taps into the ground, break light, and turn signal on the driver side taillight and the other turn signal on the passenger side.

Replace the bulb.
