I got hit from behind, what should i do now?

The other day 10 mins after i got my car handwashed.A acura full of girls crashes into me on the gw bridge. They were begging me to take 300 cash and not get insurance involved. The damage looks very minor a few scrapes,I got a estimate for $768 to replace the bumper.I gave her the estimate over the phone she says its way to much and she wants the bodyshop estimate faxed to her.

You should have called the cops, filed an accident report and traded info re insurance, license #, address etc...hope that you did.

Good luck.

Quick question..

If it wasn't a bunch of girls that hit you, would you have done the correct procedure?.... call the cops, file a report, call your insurance.

If the answer is YES, you made a big mistake.

a reputable body shop should be able to sand and repaint the bumper for around $200-$250. If thats the only scratch on the bumper, it doesnt need to be replaced.

Honestly, that doesn't look too bad. I would take the $300 and just live with it. It's a lot of effort to track everyone down and collect insurance, then get it fixed, and hope the body shop doesn't add more scratches than when you came in. It's just what you can live with. After my car + metal chain I can live with a few scratches :P

They were ok looking it looks like they just woke up because they were wearing pajamas.I think I would have handled it the same if it was a guy maybe less yelling if he was bigger than me.It happened on the lower level of the gw bridge in rush hour traffic.I had no shoulder to pull over in,my insurance card expired a few days before and i did not have my new one with me.So i did not want to stay there to long and get cops involved. The damage is so minor Its not worth the 500 deductible.I did get her insurance and license info if she refuses to pay.Looks like she will be paying for most of my hfp bodykit.Hopefully

Get an estimate, tell her to pay the estimate amount or you will inform the insurance. Im sure she would go with the $$$. Better than paying higher insurance premium for her. Then, like you said, HFP!!!

well look at that... you get a new HFP kit practically paid for out of this accident
except... if you dont get it fixed, rust could occur from the elements etc
and under that HFP kit, in the back of your mind.. all you'll see is that battle scar
It's a good fix presently, but maybe fix it up to prevent further problems?

Thats exactly what I'm worried about. When I went to get the estimate the guy said there was no damage to the chasis or frame. So if I don't get the bodykit all he will do is replace the bumper and energy absorber.
Btw i have not posted anything in a while because I'm getting my house ready for my baby thats due very soon.

Rust isn't a concern as the bumper is plastic. Touch up paint will do for now to prevent the rest of the paint from peeling.

Well, you did good by going to a body shop that over charges. Now you have a reputable quote for her to go by. Hopefully, she's true to her word.

Good luck!!
