Upper Cluster Flashes in Cold

Hey everyone,

I attempted to post this a few days ago but I don't think it did. So if it is a dup, please ignore...

Anyway, now that we've had sub 30 degree weather in Upstate NY, I've noticed a problem, one that I've been having anytime it is cold. My upper cluster (speedo, temp, and fuel) flashes on and off when it is cold. The colder it is, the more it flashes and sometimes doesn't even come on. This happens while the car is idling and while I'm driving - it can be dangerous as sometimes I don't know how fast I'm going!

Anyway, I've taken it to the dealer and they claim my warranty is void since I've added a Navigation unit (after market) as well as an audio system AND even a windshield mounted radar detector (they blamed this as potentially party of the problem).

Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Any way I can get Honda to take a look without forking over $90/hr? This is dangerous and could get me tickets/into an accident.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

they cant void anything unless they prove that your radio caused it....so make them look into...i have a thread that states the federal warranty laws...look it up...

Something else happens to mine when its cold. All the digital stuff, speedo, radio, gas, temp.... it "loads" slowly. When im turning up the volume on the radio, the numbers change, but it takes a while for the number to change..... it slowly changes like in slow motion... like its thick liquid

thats exactly what it is, the cold is making the liquid of the lcd thicker and doesnt flow as quickly in and out of the segments of the display, giving you that ghosting effect
